This was the worst hotel I have ever entered...and we never even made it to the room!
I had booked this hotel on priceline, which had it listed as a 2 1/2+ star hotel (!!!!), for one night following a cruise (my only bad luck with priceline). We arrived at the hotel app. 11 a.m. No early check-in available. Okay - that's understandable. The problem? Absolutely no place whatsoever to store our bags so that we could walk around while we awaited check-in time. The woman at the front desk (a tiny table of sorts in a tiny room; not a "front desk") could barely spare the time to look up from reading the newspaper to offer us advice. Her suggestion was "just leave them in there" and waved her hand dismissively toward another room. The other room was the "restaurant" (small cafeteria-type room) and served as the main walkway between the pool area and the front entrance - she told us just to stick our luggage in the corner and leave it there - that no one would bother it. Who would leave their luggage in such an unsecured area??? We asked if there wasn't even a closet or somewhere to leave luggage...The woman was acting like WE were crazy to have such an issue leaving our luggage in the restaurant/walkway!
After sitting approximately 30 minutes with our luggage, we decided to cut our losses. I was able to call and get a full rack rate room ($$$) at Hyatt Pier 66 (GORGEOUS!!!). We informed the front desk that we would not be staying there (knowing we had pre-paid and would not get a refund) and the same woman (barely looking up from her newspaper) said, "It doesn't matter - you're prepaid here..." She didn't care in the slightest that we were so turned off by her and absolutely everything at this "hotel" that we were willing to forego our pre-payment AND pay full price elsewhere!! Hmmmm.....maybe that's the intent...
I had never before stayed at a hotel that didn't offer some sort of "room" to store luggage. Now I know to check beforehand, but the service/concern at this "hotel" was beyond description. From what we saw in the short time we were there, the public areas looked unappealing/not too clean/stains, etc.
We never made it to our room, so I can't comment on that....
In walking outside, there didn't seem to be anything around, either...
I've stayed at many different types of hotels and wouldn't consider myself too high maintenance or a "hotel snob", but you couldn't pay me to step onto this premises again.
By the way, in taking the taxi back from this hole in the wall to the Hyatt, the taxi driver was laughing that we had tried to stay here. He said he had heard it was disgusting. The front desk girl at the Pier 66 (so friendly we wanted to hug her after our encounter at Fort Lauderdale Plaza) shuddered when we told her from where we had just come.
DO NOT STAY HERE!!! If you booked on priceline and got this hotel, cut your losses! (I did complain to priceline subsequently about their ranking of this hotel...)
