My first comment would be to warn families with infants or young children that there are NO TUBS in this entire hotel. All rooms have showers only, and though they are modern and nice, very slippery for little ones. Luckily, my five-year-old tolerated a shower but of course, this means you're in there with them, whether you want to or not! I have no idea how folks with babies or toddlers managed to bathe them. Odd for a hotel that features suites for families...
Clearly an issue with maintnance here. As noted numerous times, the elevators are a problem and have been for a long, long time judging by other reviews. The hot tub/jacuzzi by the pool did not work at all during our five-day stay and I noted a review a month later saying the same thing. Very disappointing for us! We love jacuzzis and were looking forward to it. No jets at home!
The breakfast buffet was good but again, seemed understaffed as items were constantly running out. Staff will bring items like toast or bagels to you but whether or not they remembered to ask was hit or miss.
Pool area does not have enough chairs. Better get there early!
Parking is too expensive.
Pros include a great location, close to everything, clean rooms, modern decor, friendly staff. I would recommend the place more to couples or small groups without very young children and more interested in being close to the Fort Lauderdale action.

  • Liked — Location, cleanliness, nice staff
  • Disliked — Elevator and jacuzzi maintenance issues, no tubs, employees nice but seemed understaffed

Spacious, well appointed accomodation, but loud (street noise)

This place is a condo complex managed by Doubletree. The location is not bad, you can walk to the beach within minutes, and there is a water-taxi ($12/day) stop directly at the hotel's pier on the waterway. The taxi from the airport cost about $22 for a 15min ride; from the hotel to Las Olas you would pay about $8 for the taxi.

Our first impression when entering the lobby was good, a nice and modern place. Check-in was fast and efficient, the staff professional but not over-friendly, rather military style. Our suite was on the 10th floor with a nice view of the ocean and waterway and Sunrise Boulevard.

What we liked:
The interior design and amenities were very nice, each unit has a kitchen fully equipped with dishwasher and everything you need to cook a full meal, the living room was spacious with Plasma TV, large bedroom with two Queen Beds, bathroom with "Rainforest-Shower" and marble floors. There is a seven eleven and CVS pharmacy nearby where you can get stuff for breakfast or a microwave dinner which you can enjoy on your nice furnished balcony.

What we disliked:
- Even though we were on the 10th floor, the street noise was quite noticeable. You heard cars and trucks at any time of day or night, and when sitting on the balcony you had to raise your voice quite a bit in order to understand each other. During the night, you have to switch the a/c fan on, in order to suppress the street noise.
- the recently renovated property looked nice on the first impression, but taking a second look, you'll notice that the renovations must have been carried out under immense time pressure and cost savings, with no attention to details.
- the staff generally seemed to be dissatisfied, not with their job in general, but with the fact that they apparently don't get the right tools they need to do their job properly.

I can't say if we would stay there again or not. There are many good things about this place, location, amenities etc. However, the street noise and the military style treatment of guests is really something.

  • Liked — walkling distance to beach, watertaxi stop, fully equipped kitchen
  • Disliked — street noise, staff attitude

Recently visited Ft. Lauderdale and stayed at Gallery ONE on Sunrise Boulevard. Was able to book it for $81 per night via Priceline. It was a decent 'condo' style hotel for the area. I would certainly stay there again. Some things to note: the property appears to have been 'older' but recently 'renovated'. The renovations suit the property well. However, there were a few minor rough spots (door that sticks, dents in walls, slower elevators) but not significant enough to change hotels.

A few of the highpoints: The fresh, warm and delicous chocolate chip cookie that will be presented to you at check in. Location is prime. The units are very large and a well maintained and reasonably appointed. Very close to the beach and within walking distance to a very nice mall and prety good dining.

The lowpoint:
Be prepared to pay $14 a night for parking.

Just returned from 3 nights at this Doubletree which was enjoyable but frustrating. This hotel could be perfect but for some problems.

Good: Large suite with very nice kitchen, 42" plasma tv, balcony with table/chairs, and tasteful decorations. Good location with easy access to beach and freeways. My room was on the 8th floor and faced South with nice views of the water and the city skyline. It was nice to cook small meals and relax on the balcony. Didn't use the pool or hotel restaurant. Staff was friendly but seemed understaffed.

Bad: 2 of 3 elevators were out of order the whole time but hotel gave access to 2 service elevators which helped but were inconvenient. Large parking structure and lot mostly empty yet hotel charges $14/day. I just parked free a few blocks away in a residential area which didn't have any "tow away" signs. AC unit worked too well- room was cold and adjusting the temp upwards did nothing, even in "heat" mode. Complained to maintenance but no-one ever showed up to fix. Saw several cockroaches, staff was there right away to spray but room smelled terrible and no other room was offered. Instead they offered free internet for 2 days.

My impression is the hotel needs improvement in it's maintenance. If you can get a good rate and keep these things in mind your stay may be worthwhile. Unsure if the cockroach problem is isolated or a common issue there.

I won two nights at the Doubletree on Priceline for $65 a night. My wife and stepdaughter took a little trip together and only had positive things to say about this hotel. The price is what gives this place a 5 out of 5. If they paid the rack rate of $199, then they would have downgraded to a 4/5.

The good:
-Service was fine, although they had little contact after checking in to the time they checked out.
-Shopping center next door
-One can walk to the beach
-Big room that was clean and the beds were comfortable
-Full kitchen with a dishwasher
-Large flat screen TV on the wall
-Water taxi is convenient, although they did not use it

Only negatives:
-Parking fees, they did valet ($17) for convenience with a late arrival
-Nothing was open in the area to grab a bite to eat at 11pm on a Sunday

After hearing about the Doubletree and seeing the pictures, I wouldn't mind staying here in the future, especially for the price.
