We stayed at the Gallery ONE on a business/pleasure trip. My boyfriend had to work for business and I got to go along for pleasure. :) We both loved this hotel. We were in a corner room- 701. We had views of the beach and the city.
The suites are huge! The living/dining area is comparable to a NYC apartment. They have great high def flat screens in the living rooms. The bedroom and bathroom are very roomy. I can imagine that it would be a great space for families with children or friends traveling together.
The kitchen is much more than you expect. It is small, but really well stocked. It includes refrigerator, two burners, a microwave oven and a dishwasher. They provide plates, flatware, a full set of pots, a salad bowl, a set of cooking utensils, place mats...the works. You really can cook a meal. The only thing you are missing is a traditional oven.
They do not have wireless yet, but said they are working on it. They high speed is $9.99/day. If you are on business...the dining room table is a great desk to work on. The business center had 3-4 computers that are free of charge. It is a small room and I found it to be crowded whenever I walked by. If you just want to check your email occasionally...you would be fine. There is a safe in the room that is free of charge and will easily accommodate a laptop.
The huge bathroom was well stocked. The towels are huge and very soft. They bathroom amenities are all Neutrogena...and if you forget to pack it...they provide facial wash and sunblock. My boyfriend swears that their rain shower is his favorite shower ever!
The bed is a firm, with plush top...incredibly comfortable. Their linens and pillows were top notch. The blackout curtains worked great.
One of the only downside to the room was the air conditioner. It worked great in the living room, but there was very little circulation in the bedroom. This made for a freezing living room and a hot bedroom. We were not far from the drawbridge, but we never heard it. Also note: For the size of the rooms, the closet is tiny.
The self-parking is only $3.00 cheaper than valet. However, if you don't like waiting for the valet...the parking garage is only about a minute walk from the front of the hotel.
They were still having trouble with the elevators when we were there during the weekend of 1/12. They opened the service elevators for the guests. It shortened the wait, but isn't a very pretty place to wait for an elevator.
Depending on whether or not you catch the drawbridge...the beach is anywhere from a 7-15 minute walk. The beach near the hotel is narrow, but pretty. You are quite close to the road when you are on the sand and down that far they do not have walls or barriers between the beach and the road.
I enjoyed the pool area more than the beach. They have a nice, little sand area with lounge chairs. (see pic) Most of the wooden chairs were broken, but if you can get a good one...you are in business. The pool area also has lots of lounge chairs and the pool itself was a nice size. The jacuzzi was not working when we were there. The bar by the pool was convenient and at night the fire pits and tiki torches were fun.
Their gym is decent. They have several treadmills, some ellipticals and free weights. They provide towels and cold water with either oranges or lemons in it. They also have two of their signature flat screen TVs which is great.
The location next to the mall is great. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. There is also a CVS across the street. Everyone is right...take the time to look for the European bakery...the entrance to it faces CVS. It is GREAT and well worth looking for.
Overall, we loved this hotel. New, huge and beautiful rooms! Nice pool area. Great location next to the mall and walking distance to the beach! If you can get a deal on this hotel...I say take it!
