I've dined there each of the last two times I was in Fort Lauderdale. Funny thing is, I haven't been able to get beyond the appetizers. I find a couple of things there I really want and make a meal of it and never get to the entrees. However, I always seem to find a way to get to the hummingbird cake. Emphasis here is on quality, not quantity. But that doesn't mean portions are small unless you're used to stuffing yourself at the Golden Corral. The calamari was excellent - not the tough little rubber bands you frequently find. The escargot was the most imaginative, and I must say, most tasty I've had outside of Paris. I've had the strawberry pecan salad twice and it is out of this world. Now about that hummingbird cake... WARNING: DO NOT ORDER IT JUST FOR YOURSELF. Last time I was there was with three other people. We ordered one piece and it was sufficient. If you think you can eat it all yourself, be prepared for going into a diabetic coma! The guys that own the place and the waitstaff want to make sure you have an excellent experience. The menu is heavy on carnivore items, however, if you don't do meat, let them know and they can modify your meal to suit your requirements as everything is made to order. One caveat, the place can get a bit noisy if the bar is crowded or there is a party going on. There was live, unobtrusive music being played the Saturday evening I was there last. This has become by far my favorite place to eat in Fort Lauderdale. As Ahnold said, "I'll be back."
