“Great Location With a Modern Feel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed today NEW

First off the hotel is in an excellent location and within walking distance to grocery stores, the Galleria Mall, restaurants, and Starbucks. The valet was always tentative from check in through check out, however overnight parking is $28 a day. The front lobby is modern and has a very clean smell. We had a corner room on the 3rd floor and the view was great, but I'm sure much better from a higher floor. The bed slept well, there is free wifi ( up to 3mb), a nice flat screen tv with showtime, plenty so closet space, and mirrors. The bathroom is on the small side, but serviceable. All in all, I would recommend the Sonesta based on price and location.

Just returned from a lovely break during which we stayed at the Sonesta hotel This has a more modern reception area than many hotels we have used and feels contemporary Just across the road from the glorious beach and both couples in our party were thrilled to be upgraded to a junior suite on arrival with fab ocean views The room was lovely airy light and the bed was just so big and comfortable with a great walk in shower We ate a few times in the hotel The Japanese resteraunt was good The bistro was perhaps our least favourite but still served reasonable food Breakfast and snacks by the pool were delicious and I would recommend them What gave this hotel it's real appeal was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff They were wonderful ! We got free wifi and they were even happy to set it up for us on our iPads They or ranged trips ,transport and gave advise on activities We loved it we had read about a problem with noise from the other rooms as the walls were reportedly thin but we did not have a problem with this during our stay at all

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view you might just be as lucky as we were !

We had an excellent stay.
Exceptional valet and front desk staff, stunning room design (all rooms are oceanview)

The hotel is in a quiet area of Ft Lauderdale ( Los Olas Blvd is just a short drive away).

Beach is right across the highway, chair and sunbed rentals are available nearby.

Parking is a bit expensive(like every other hotel in the area), but wifi is free!

Highly recommended hotel, and a great value.

The lobby is charming, the pool area is small but they furnished it well. The restaurant is good, also decorated well. The service could be better as the staff is not as knowledable as I had hoped, but there's always google! I recommend a higher floor and corner room. The views are outstanding and the windows are big. However, the view could have been even better if the windows were cleaner. Overall, for the price and location it is a very good hotel. If you want a great view in a great location, for a good price stay here.

Room Tip: High floor corner room - all have good views though

I saw this hotel on TLC's Four Weddings and thought how spectacular the view was for a wedding. Since I'm from NY, I was worried that the photos and videos I saw online would not live up to the hotel, but I was very pleased that it looked exactly the same. We stayed in the corner King suite with the ocean front view. It was gorgeous!!!!! Hotel is a more modern feel and the staff were helpful and friendly. Only thing I didn't like was the valet parking. Not sure if I would want my guest to pay for parking. Other than that I was very happy. This venue is on our top list.

Dear llopez24, thanks for sharing your comments and for the perfect ratings you gave us! We would love to host your wedding so dont hesitate to contact me with any questions. Please note that most of the hotels on the beach offer valet only parking due to the limited number of spaces available.

I recently had a group of about 80 people staying here for my wedding that was held a block away at the Bonnet House as well as our rehearsal brunch held in their fantastic rooftop ballroom and our experience was a mixture of good and bad.

First my compliments to the front drive staff, they really hit it out of the park with their name recognition and friendly service, the rooms were clean and fresh, the service at the brunch was excellent and attentive, the beverage was exactly what we were looking for, the hot food on the buffet was great and the view was a million dollar view. I really want to thank the staff from the brunch because they made our group feel welcomed and tried to take care of all of our needs.

Unfortunately there were also a few problems, the first night we were there we tried to order a dark and stormy at the lobby bar and was told they did not have ginger beer so they could not make the drink, to my surprise the next day at the pool we found dark and stormy on the menu?? The food we ordered for lunch at the pool on the day of the wedding was severely overcooked, I had ordered a medium rare burger and was served something that was dry and hard, the two chicken sandwiches my friends ordered came out overcooked as well and the one ordered without bacon came with it. The burger was replaced with a fresh and perfectly cooked one but I waited 30 minutes for our coffee and water, an additional 30 minutes for my first burger and then had to wait again for my re-cooked burger, very disappointing.

At the brunch we had contracted a seafood bar that would have been a huge hit if it weren't for the Oysters being placed inside of each other causing shell to break loose into the oyster beneath it. This left a lot of people picking out shell from their oyster before eating them and this resulted in people not enjoying them and not eating them. Also the crab we contracted was the snow crab claws, this is a partially shelled product not requiring the guest to de-shell the crab before eating it. Unfortunately this was not provided as contracted but instead we were served snow crab leg clusters, a much less expensive product and not what we ordered. When I mentioned this to the manager he agreed that it was contracted as the claws only, and also said he did not have shell crackers which were needed to open the shells of the crab that was provided. This seafood station was a flop, the only saving grace was that the shrimp were very good and enjoyed by all.

When confronted about this the hotel quickly accepted responsibility for the shortfall and I do appreciate that. A reasonable concession was made for the failure to deliver as contracted but this does not change the fact that we did not get what we asked for and does not excuse the mistake.

I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a fresh, clean and trendy property to stay at that is across the street form the ocean and in good "off the beaten path" location to the Ft. Laud beach scene but do not recommend having your meetings here, or dining at the pool.

Room Tip: All rooms have an ocean view but the best views are from the rooms on the south end of the hotel.

Note: due to our schedule, we only stayed here one night... but it was very good.
First, the location is perfect for Fort Lauderdale. From the minute we drove in the circular drive, we felt welcome and appreciated. Our room was overlooking the ocean and was in very good condition. Yes, a coffee maker would be a nice feature. The décor was light and refreshing and very contemporary. There was noise in the hallway so the rooms need to be better soundproofed. At about 11pm the person(s) above us must have just checked in as there was a loud noise much like that of a suitcase being dropped. Other than that we slept soundly. The light breakfast we had, consisted of a generous portion of whole oats and coffee. It was very good and the service was super. I recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
