We stayed @ the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six while my husband was in Ft. Lauderdale on business. Overall I would say the stay was above average. The property is beautiful. When we checked in the staff was polite and the process went quickly. Our room in the terrace area was ready and we did get a nonsmoking king as requested. The room had been recently updated and had plenty of room with a balcony that overlooked the pool area. The only problem with this location was that there is no carpeting in these rooms and they are set up "motel-style" with the entry doors being outside vs in a corridor. Every time someone would move a chair, or close the door you are able to hear it. I can only imagine that this is amplified on the 1st level as we were on the 2nd. These rooms also are right along the marina and parking which was very convenient. I spent the 1st day @ the pool which had plenty of room and provided towels and chair covers free of charge (there is a $12/day resort fee and parking is also $18/day). They had music playing and a restaraunt available, which I did not try. After our 2nd night I called the front desk to see if we could be moved due to the noise. I got some run around and they offered me free breakfast, but the only other rooms available were in the same area. After a visit to the front desk, my husband was able to get our room changed to the tower. Joanna at the desk was very accomodating and even allowed him to take a look at the room 1st. This room was very large with a balcony that overlooked the port. It was at the end of the hall and although next to the ice machine was very quiet. The bedding in both locations was very comfortable. They also gave us free coupons for the breakfast buffet, which was very good. The only other experience we had with the restaurants on the property was the pelican bar. This is just a short walk through the marina and is right on the water. It is a small, casual area with a limited menu. My husband and I each had 2 beers, we had an order of shimp coctail and an order of hummus and the bill was $50. I found that all of the restaraunts seemed to be pricey as was the hotel overall. We booked through the hotel directly and paid over $1000 for 4 nights. They do have a free shuttle to the beach, but other than that there is nothing to do close to the hotel. There are some bars and things within a few miles. Overall comfortable, nice, but pricey.
