“Enjoyed my stay!”

Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six

Stayed here recently for a 3-day conference. I have pretty mixed reviews about my experience. Though a Hyatt hotel, it definitely falls short in several areas. I don't know if I'd stay here again, unless I got a fairly decent deal. Here are my observations;

Things I liked:
+ clean room
+ super spacious room, bathroom, and patio!
+ sheets felt clean
+ beautiful linen on beds, lots of pillows, looked super comfortable
+ good news....it was super comfortable! :)
+ nice clean towels
+ very nice soaps and shampoo
+ food served at our banquet night was surprisingly fantastic - they really tried to make it an upscale experience
+ location was pretty good - right on the intracoastal, and just a walk over the draw bridge to downtown
+ close to airport
+ conference areas were nice
+ water was reasonably priced in the lobby gift shop, and shop staff were very nice

Things that were not so great:
- staff checking us in were not especially friendly (though not unfriendly either) and looked extremely unprofessional in their attire
- was greatly inconvenienced with all my luggage when I discovered my room key didn't work...it was a long hike back to the reception desk with all my stuff...I was none to pleased as I was trying to get to a meeting
- sheets had hair on them (probably from maid, but still very unappealing)
- room required some repair - holes in the wall could be seen (especially in bathroom were tile had separated at the base board - they definitely need to improve their maintenance crew)
- wine served at all the functions was absolutely terrible! Absolutely terrible!
- very small tv
- closet smelt terrible (like old take out food) - odor transferred to my fleshly dry cleaned clothes (which was embarrassingly obvious)
- heard many people in my party complained about the high hotel and parking fees

Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip to Ft. Lauderdale!

“Stay in the Tower”

We booked this Hotel as part of a group attending a Conference and were assigned an "upgrade" to the newly renovated rooms in the Lanai section. This area is in the process of being updated. We were assigned one of the updated rooms with a plasma tv and tiled floors but did not care for it at all.

At this point it was already about 3:30 and check-ins started at 3 and there were no more no-smoking King rooms left in the Tower. We had seen the rooms there because a friend was staying there and we thought these rooms were dramatically better with outstanding views. My friend checked out of his smoking room the next day (there was no smell at all) and the Hotel allowed us to move to his room. It was so different that it was really like staying in a different Hotel all together.

The staff was adequate and helpful but not terribly friendly. Still, they did their jobs and the service was good.

I had read prior guest's warnings but against my advice, my fiance wanted to stay where other Orange Bowl fans would be lodged. Upon arrival on New Year's Eve, we watched as many, many guests were made to wait so that rooms could be cleaned prior to check-in. We waited over four hours to get checked in and even though I am a member of Gold Passport and had a guaranteed non-smoking room, we were given a Bungalow room that had obviously been used by smokers and was very worn and dirty. Needless to say, I did not feel like celebrating the New Year that evening. These hotels know that they are expecting guests and this hotel must have a very poor management staff to be so unprepared for the OB crowd. The lobby, bar and restaurant are not worth mentioning but the pool area is very nice. After much complaining and no action on the part of housekeeping, after one sleepless night, we were moved to a renovated room in the Tower that was actually quite nice. And the Concierge was very helpful. All in all - our trip was salvaged but I will never get that New Year's Eve back. Book this place only if you get a very cheap rate.

We stayed two nights at the Hyatt before heading off for an Amazon cruise. Seems all hotels in the Ft. Lauderdale area are older but this one had a great pool and most, but not all, newly renovated/decorated rooms. We had a renovated 2nd floor waterway view room. Renovated rooms were nice, marble floors, white plantation shutters over the windows, nice double sinks in the bathrooms, glass enclosed shower (no tub). All this gave the rooms an openness and fresh look that they really needed. It also had great air circulation from the air conditioner. If you can not get a renovated room I would pass. Our friends did not and it was dark, dank, and the room door stuck.

One note, we requested King, non smoking, marina view room and gave a credit card to guarantee late arrival. When we arrived, no king bed was available. They offered to upgrade us to a room with a balcony overlooking the pool but we opted for the renovated room w/two queen beds and the waterway view. In fairness, we have found this happening more and more when we travel. Best to try and arrive at any hotel before 3pm when more room choices are available.

I stayed at the Hyatt sixty-six for two nights.
The pictures are a lot nicer than the actual hotel. The hotel is nice from the outside, but on the inside it is old. It needs to be renovated. The rooms are better than the lobby area.

My complaint is that Iarrived in Ft. Lauderdale at 11pm. I called in for room service and was told that there is no room service available, even though the menu in the room said t here was. They said that they had forgotten to change out some of the menus in the rooms. Needless to say I went to bed hungry.

I had to print something from the business center and the printer was out of paper. I had to wait for someone to bring paper. They took over 30 minutes, and I didn't realize that while I waited, I was being charged because I was logged onto the computer. It cost me to $125 to print 30 pages!!!!

The restaurant didn't have many choices.
and there were red ants in my room.
I swear that I'm not a picky person. But I would not recommend this hotel. I'm sure there are better ones out there.
