“Very, Very Tired”

Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six

My wife and two boys stayed at this hotel at the end of December for 1 night prior to joining a cruise from the Port.

I had stayed at this hotel once before and remember it to be great.

Upon check in, we were advised that one of our rooms (inter-connecting) was not made up yet. No issue seeing we had arrived 2 hours early. We were shown to the one ready room and the luggage was brought up. Two hours later upon our return to the hotel we were told that there had been a problem. The guest who had stayed in the inter-connecting room had decided to stay on and they had no other rooms in the whole hotel that were inter-connecting or in fact with two twins (essential for 2 teenage boys!). We were eventually offered another room down the hall at a slightly discounted rate. Not ideal but for 1 night we had little option.

The rooms are very comfortable and quite luxurious so no issue there. Housekeeping had to send someone to one of the rooms as the in-room safe didn't work, but that was fixed promptly.

We ate breakfast there the following morning. Compared to the Marriotts and other chains, breakfast at the Hyatt was not great. They offered a very small buffet and only one really, really useless toaster. Why can't hotels do something about these toasters - nearly all of them need 2-3 times round the conveyor belt.

Later that morning, my wife and sat beside the pool. The service there was good, but a word of advice, get a sun bed early. By 11am you have no chance.

Overall, I would give this hotel 3/5. I am not sure whether I would stay there again although for convenience to the port, it wasn't bad.

We stayed here before a New Year's cruise departing out of Port Everglades. Overall, we had a fine experience with this hotel.

We booked through Priceline and we were given a "Garden" room around the pool area. At check-in, we asked if we could get a room in the Tower and were told it would be an additional fee. We also were told that all "third-party" (internet) bookings are placed in the Garden area. Still, our room was fine and overlooked one of Ft. Lauderdale's canals.

The pool area is very nice and the hotel is connected to many of Fort Lauderdale's piers, which makes for a nice walk. The hotel is close to the beach, the airport, and Port Everglades.

Food at the hotel was just OK and the breakfast buffet was overpriced, in my opinion.

The regular rate for the room is around $260, and we paid half of that. In my opinion, it's not so luxurious to pay the top rates. But the Priceline rate was just about right.

Booked the Pier 66 for two nights over the Holiday Break, having stayed at this hotel before I knew to ask for a newly remodeled room...upon check-in I was told that the remodeled rooms were $30.00 extra which really got my attention as a repeat guest and a gold passport menber. Anyway the room updates are quite nice, except the beds squeek everytime you move....that said this property needs help every thing except the remodeled rooms and pool are badly in need of an update.

The staff was helpful but not sincere and the spa dirty

Pelican Bar and Grille 66 were the best part of the stay

“Run away...better to sleep in your car”

Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six

On Dec 31 we (along with about 100 other "guests") waited over eight hours to be checked into our reserved rooms. At $400/ night it wasn't even remotely worth it. The eight hour wait isn't an exaggeration either. The hotel was fully booked but couldn't figure out that they had to actually clean the rooms before new guests arrived. So with about 100 guests milling in the lobby we waited while the hotel managment lamely tried various excuses on us (e.g. "we need to rent additional duvet covers", "housekeeping is short handed", "florida law will not permit check in while it is daylight" etc.) One of the managers actually used the last one on a couple waiting ahead of me in line. We went to the restaurant for a few hours. I ordered creme brulee and got oatmeal. The waiter insisted they were one and the same since the oatmeal came with "real cream".
We finally got into our semi-clean suites and in the morning there were two papers shoved under the door. One was a bill which overcharged us by over $100. The other was a xeroxed aplology for the previous day's treatment (no mention of the rudeness of the managerial staff) just a statement that it was not the travel agent's fault and that they valued the travel agent's business. Best of all, we were charged a resort fee for use of the pool and "amenities" which were unavailable since we had to wait until nightfall to get into our rooms. Needless to say, we were late for our New Year's party. What a sad dissapointment of a hotel. The managers had very little training and not a bit of tact. One of them actually invited a guest out to the parking lot to "settle things" (the guest was a bit upset but not overly so). What a pathetic effort on the part of Hyatt. They need to divest this hotel or at least its managment. Yech. Stay anywhere else.

“Rooms outdated - spa was nice”

Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six

As with the previous review - I am also on the fence with this hotel. The main lobby, the grounds, the pool, the walkway around the hotel to see all the yachts - very nice BUT the outer Lanai rooms were nothing more than just OK - pretty outdated and the beds were doubles and not even queens - for 4 adults - it was a bit cramped. We worked out in the spa in the morning and enjoyed a relaxing swim in their awesome pool. They did charge us the resort fee but also told us it would be an $18 fee to park but upon checking out - they never charged us for it. I wish priceline would include all of their extra prices in your bids so you aren't surprised after your bid is accepted to only find out it might be $30 more than you anticipated.
