My family of three recently stayed at this Hyatt. Yes, they had some problems in the past(one just happened to be a hurricane that devastated all their new landscaping) but this hotel is definitely on its way back. I am in the travel business and I like things nice. The hotel's lanai rooms have all been redone and are absolutely gorgeous: beautiful, soothing colors, lovely tile floors, flat screen tvs and totally redone bathrooms that any of the mansions on the intercoastal woutd be proud of. They are now in the process of renovating the tower rooms in the same vein and the views there are breathtaking. The restaurants were pricey, but the food was very good and beautifully presented. The relandscaping (again) is lovely and the pools could not have been cleaner or more inviting.
We had no problems with any of the staff; they were all pleasant and accomodating!
This hotel is in a great area and there is a free shuttle to the beach. The water shuttle is right from the property and the ride was a lot of fun! Don't let the negative reviews keep you from this property. We had a wonderful room that opened to a patio with new furniture and a view of the yachts on the intercoastal. It was just steps to a sparkling blue pool! I don't know what else you could ask for from a luxury resort!

We stayed at the Hyatt Pier 66 for 2 nights prior to our Sea Princess Cruise. After reading all the complaints from others, we were so concerned that we almost cancelled our prepaid booking (that we had received through an internet auction site). Our experience was wonderful from the moment we arrived at the hotel. At the desk I showed them our Hyatt Gold Card and asked for the North Tower with a view, a non smoking room and early check-in. We accepted an offer for an upgrade for $40 a night and were given a large beautiful suite in the North Tower with a balcony overlooking the pools, the causeway and the ocean! Even though we arrived at 9:30 a.m. we were escorted to our room (1360) right away. The reception personnel were gracious, professional and accomodating. We no sooner arrived in our room then we received a call from the front desk asking if we were happy with our room. Now that's service! The beds had plush pillows and duvets; the marble bathroom was huge with excellent toiletry samples and we had a sitting area with a couch and table, and more. The hotel lobby and grounds are lovely. Rest assured that the restorations at the hotel seem to have been completed. I swam in the pool daily; we had great drinks at the pool bar; enjoyed the gym and made use of the weights. I also had a great facial and took advantage of the spa/sauna room. We enjoyed a walk around the pier and were amazed at the expensive yachts. The Water Taxi stop is in back of the Pelican Bar and we enjoyed our tour around the causeway. We didn't know that there are two tours, a Southbound & a Northbound tour so if you buy your all day ticket (now $10), you might like to take advantage of both tours. My suggestion is to sign up for the Hyatt Gold Passport program prior to check-in at the hotel. It doesn't cost anything and you accumulate points for whatever you spend at the hotel (gift shop. spa, food, drinks, etc.). Plus it might help you also to get an upgrade!

Maybe my standards are lower than the other people writing reviews but I didn't really have any serious problems with this facility. Given that it is nearly impossible to find a decent place to stay in Lauderdale this time of year that doesn't require a 2nd mortgage on the house, I was tempted to rate this as Excellent. We arrived on Friday. The valet staff was friendly. The check in staff was also friendly although the woman we had was clearly ESL. We found our way to our room which was fine. It smelled and looked clean. After putting our things down we put on swim suits and headed for the pool. The pool area is HUGE and very nice. Yes, the trees have suffered as a result of hurricanes but, what is Hyatt supposed to do about a hurricane coming through? One of the few bad experiences we had was getting lunch and it really wasn't that bad. Pool-side we were told that the kitchen was very backed up and it would be about 30 minutes to get food. While we weren't thrilled, at least they had told us about it before we ever ordered. Our waiter was friendly and kept us well supplied with drinks. The only other bad experience we had was at breakfast. As mentioned in other reviews, the staff in that restaurant seems fairly incompetent. It took a few attempts before we got all of our food brought to the table. However, unlike other reviews we didn't encounter any rude staff. For $130/night this place was an excellent deal.

This was the worst, we had been to Pier 66 a few years ago and it was charming, the people were great and the resort was really quite nice. New management has created a nightmare. Terrible service, the hotel was painted this funky mint blue making it look like an old doubletree or holiday inn that needs to be renovated. They gutted all the trees and it looks concretey. The prices are laughable. I don't mind paying for things when they are worth the experience, but this was really bad, room, food, pool for alot of money.
Next time we will stay at Harbor Beach, much nicer and same prices. DONT STAY AT PIER 66!

We stayed here for the first two nights of a long road trip and we were excited to land a Hyatt via Priceline for $110/night. That is until we came on TripAdvisor and saw the hotels great ratings. Had we not been expecting much of what we saw I would have been more disappointed but having low expecatations going in kept us from being too unhappy.

The checkin was seamless and we got a tower room. The lobby was nice but once the elevator opened to our floor I saw what everyone was talking about. The low ceilings, stains on the carpet, drywall damage on the walls, beat up paint on the doors, and tired green paint made me think I was in a roadside motel somewhere. The room itself had been updated and we had no issue with the room. Also, the view was fantastic from the balcony but then again, you can get that view from any other hotel in the area.

Other positives about the hotel was the nice pool area (we went there at 11:00 at night so I didn't get the full view) and overall the we found the service and bellman friendly and courteous.

Negatives of the hotel include the presentation described above plus the $5.00/day internet fee on top of the resort fee. I also despised the 18% gratuity included in the rate of a meal for 3. Especially when meals consisting of two hamburgers and a childs chicken fingers ran $70. The waiter was friendly and personable and was very apologetic when they served my daughter rotten milk.

Overall it was an ok experience. Given comparable properties available in the area I wouldn't chose this one again.
