Having purchased a priceline non-refundable stay here, then reading the reviews, I began to worry. Can it truly be as bad as these people say it is?
My stay, March 10-13 was fine, I am glad to report. We arrived there at 10am and our room was expectedly unready as check in is at 3pm. So we went and had breakfast, called back at 1230pm and our room was ready.
We stayed in an unrenovated, priceline room facing the pool. The room and bathroom were clean and everything in the room worked. With that said, I cannot imagine paying the $300+ hyatt rate. Do yourself a favor and go with priceline's $145. While the rooms were nice, slightly above average, I in no way would compare it to four seasons, etc..
The building is somewhat of a 1960s relic. The 2-floor building does resemble a howard johnson in Orlando, but the grounds were well-kept and the pool area was nice. The fitness center was very nice with current workout equipment. Did not eat at the hotel, thought the $24 breakfast buffet was not worth it. Then again, what can you have in a breakfast buffet to make it worth $24?
Service was what I would expect from a Hyatt. Our phone calls to the front desk and concierge were answered with personalized greeting, "Hello Mr. Smith...." A request for a phone book was honored in less than 10 minutes. Housekeeping did a fine job cleaning up our spring-break mess, and were compensated with a small tip.
All in all... definately worth the $145/night, but look elsewhere if you want to pay and have the true $300+ experience.
