We got to the hotel at 9 am and were granted an early check in. How's that for service? That says a lot about the hotel. We had called a week prior requesting a first floor by the pool. What we got was steps away from the pool facing the harbor on the first floor. I would highly recommend this hotel for families. The pools, although not overly fancy (no waterslide or lazy river) are EXTREMELY relaxing. There are tons of pool toys available for $5 for the entire day. And what's great about that is you can pick a toy and when you get bored, trade it in. They've got these large floating alligators that are really fun. There's also pool basketball. They also have a very, very large and hot jacuzzi. No cabanas, but tons and tons of shade everywhere. I fell asleep on a lounge chair which I never do. We stayed in a different hotel, pre cruise for 2 days with a cabana and I could not fall asleep. Too much going on at that place. This hotel is entirely different. Peaceful. And that's saying a lot because there were lots of kids at the pool. However, around the pool in quiet areas, there's large palm tress and very, very relaxing areas. There's also a pool bar and restaurant that had a singer outside. Everything at this hotel is very compact. Easy to get around. I highly recommend not staying in the tower if yo're interested in swimming since the pool's in the back. We only stayed at this hotel one day, post cruise. The location is fantastic. Two blocks to beach. Water taxi transportation. Walgreens drug store over the bridge. Great restaurant over there also, I want to say Bravo or something like that. Italian. Family atmosphere. The room itself was able to fit a rollaway with our king. The bathroom is quite large with two closets and two counters. Very large bathtub. We asked for towels when we checked in and within 1/2 hr, towels and roll away at the door. The staff was so nice and accomodating. I would highly recommend staying here. It's not 5 star, but it's one of my absolute favorite Hyatts for the location, staff and facilities. I am amazed when i read other reviews about this hotel. This is our 4th time staying here and every single time we've been very pleased.

My Husband, myself and another couple spent one night at the Hyatt on February 27th. I had booked through priceline and paid $110.00 per night, about half the going rate. I was concerned after reading the reviews, but decided since it was only one night, we could manage just about anything.

My friends husband checked in first, and after being told he was receiving an unasked for upgrade, was put on the 15th floor. When I approached the desk, I simply asked to be put by my friends since we were traveling together, and the clerk accomodated me with no problem.

The tower room was very nice. It was clean, large, and had an incredible view of the canals and the ocean. My friends room was on the opposite side but had a great view of the canals and of the cruise ships. I truly could not have been happier. I don't know why we were upgraded, but it was definitely a bonus.

The top floor rotating lounge was very nice, and we had a few drinks there. We also had a drink at the lounge down by the restaurant. Nice, but the upstairs was nicer. Had breakfast there, a bit overpriced, but when I'm on vacation I don't sweat the small stuff.

The grounds were beautiful, the staff was very friendly and I would stay there again anytime.

Recently stayed at this hotel 1st of April and paid the extra bucks for the tower room, because others have said that the garden rooms smell musty, well so do the tower rooms. They do not look that good and need repair. No extras at all like shuttle service etc. the food was very over priced and service at dinner was so poor finished eating before we could get a refill on our drinks. We asked to be put by the window instead of by the kitchen (there were only 4 people in there) and you would have thought we asked for a million dollars. Decided to not eat there again. the lounge at the top is another story, very lovely and great service and reasonable. So go figure. We would not reccommend this hotel, it is not like other Hyatts we have stayed in.

I was a bit worried after some of the reviews I read here, but our lanai room was very nice, spacious, and clean. The beds were comfortable and not a tear or stain in sight. No smells or mustiness. The bathroom was large, well-appointed and clean. I've stayed in fancier hotels, but the Pier Sixty-Six was a nice, standard American hotel room and better than I expected (especially given my lowered expectations). At $95/night on Priceline, it was a good deal during the Spring Break peak. Our room faced the canal of yachts docked behind the hotel. The room was quiet. No problems with the neighbors.

The grounds are lovely and the big pool with waterfall arches was heated 24/7. My youngest son and I had a fabulous early morning swim despite a little nip in the air. The revolving bar atop the tower sports a great view and wildly over-priced drinks. The frozen drinks are good, though.

The location is excellent, especially for our cruise ship departure from the Port Everglades port which is less than 5 minutes away. Verify taxi/van prices before riding over, however, as you can get burned with ridiculous per person charges.

There's a convenience store across the road from the hotel where you can buy fresh Krispy Kreme donuts, orange juice and milk if you want to dodge the usual sky-high room service charges.

I read a lot about the horrible lana rooms so upon hearing at the reception desk that my family were staying in one of them (all Priceline bookings are lana rooms booking unless they are all fully booked), I asked how much extra a tower room would cost. It would be 40 usd a night which was 40% higher than what I initially got the lana room for. We still decided to pay the 40 bucks as we had quite a lot of stuff with us for the upcoming cruise after 3 nights and our toddler daughter.

The tower room at level 5 was fine. The balcony had a great view of the cruise ships and the room was clean. There were some stains here and there but I only noticed them because I read the reviews about them. The beds were huge for European standards. The bathroom was clean. We were happy....though I must say that the balcony sliding doors are never locked and are hard to lock. Always check whether they are really locked after locking them!

Then at 2 am in the morning, the next doors got back to their rooms. Turned out to be rowdy youngsters who were making a lot of noise. Shouting, swearing...and something I kept hearing was "I can't believe I couldn't get a date!!!" or something like that. After a while they even went to shout on the balcony. This lasted till about 3:30 am. My daughter woke up at 4:30 and was crying on and off till the following morning.
At 8 am we decided to leave the hotel for breakfast and I asked at the front desk whether these rowdy boys would still be our neighbours the following nights. The answer was "yes" so I told them what happened and asked whether we could get another room. They said they would've solved the problem last night if we called the reception last night but I said I didn't want the neighbours to know it was us complaining. (I would complain if I was by myself but not if my wife and daughter are present.)
Sure enough they would change our rooms so we left the hotel.
We returned at 8.30 p.m and we were given a suite on the 2nd highest floor. The suite was the same as the tower room but twice the size. The balcony view was the other side which was still very nice.
The staff was friendly, the bellboys were helpful, we even went to Grille 66 for dinner which was good.
The service was good, especially because when we came back from the cruise 2 weeks later, we could leave our luggage with the hotel the entire day and go out shopping before returning to pick up our luggage to leave for the airport.

Would I stay again? Yes. Would I pay 40 usd again to avoid the lanarooms which I still haven't seen? Yes. BUT....If I could get the Renaissance for the same price, I would because it closer to supermarkets, shops etc. which is handier if you travel with a child.

P.s I want to thank the lady who didn't want one of my neighbours to be her date and I want to thank my neighbours for the noise to make my 40 pop a night extra worthwhile.
