“Lauderdale's Legend at Pier 66”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

When I think of Lauderdale, one of the landmarks is Pier 66's tower. I have stayed several times at the Hyatt and have never been disappointed. The facility offers high towers, bungalows, piers, pools, revolving restaurants - what else can you ask for? Our last stay was near the Christmas holidays - we loved the hotel WITH the decor! The rooms were clean and roomy and the staff was quite helpful. The food/beverage is a little pricey, but we had a pleasant stay and will definately come back again.

Nice hotel to stay before or after the cruise. We stayed there for 1 night and did not get to use many facilities, but we really like the courtyard with the pools and cabanas. The lobby looks very clean and modern. There is a free airline checking kiosk, which is useful.

We were placed in the old section of the hotel, as I suspected we would be because I bought the rooms on Priceline. Great price for what I think is a good location near cruise pier. Downside is the rooms are not connecting and not feather free as requested.

What is exciting is the location on the water !

This was our first stay here and we were very pleased. Although it is an older property, it is in great shape. We had a room in the tower with an amazing view of the ocean and intercoastal waterway. It was wonderful to enjoy the view over coffee in the morning and a glass of wine at night. The food at Pelican Landing was very good - we had a ceviche appetizer and fresh fish burrito which were prepared very well. Grille 66 is a must - fantastic setting, friendly staff and delicious preparation. We rented a cabana at the hotel pool and for the money it was well worth it. Would recommend and would stay there again!

Room Tip: Tower rooms - amazing view!

I'm not too fussy with hotels usually but I was really disappointed in this place.

Room service from other rooms, piles of towels, etc. were simply left in the hallways not just for hours but even for more than a day.

Hotel is very antiquated with things like the towel railing falling off and other things that are in desperate need of renovation.

Location less than perfect for the city but not too bad. Another positive is that the bed is nice.

Staff are overall nice, though a pretty homophobic comment upon checkin left a very sour note abs that alone would keep us from visiting again, regardless of anything else.

Prior to this trip, I had only seen the Hyatt from the outside. I had no idea that it sat on 20+ acres of lovely grounds including the marina. The hotel itself was great, and the location was hard to beat. The people really made the experience. Everyone was helpful and friendly. I stayed in the tower section with a view of the intracoastal waterway and downtown Fort Lauderdale, but the angled balcony afforded views all the way to the beach and throughout the cruise ship docks. I can't think of a single bad thing to say about this experience.

Room Tip: If you have a strong preference, this hotel offers "lanai" areas with lower floors, direct...

Just came back from a mother/ daughter getaway to the Hyatt Pier 66. I was a bit apprehensive about staying here because some of the reviews I read online were not that great. The minute we walked into the lobby we were pleasantly surprised. The huge picture windows look out onto very beautifully landscaped grounds-lots of palm trees and open grassy areas and a large pool area. The lobby itself is modern and impressive. The open bar area is inviting (and the food served there is delicious). We were very happy with our room in the Tower on the 8th floor, which was spacious and clean. The beds are comfortable and so are the linens. There was a fridge, so we could have breakfast each morning in the room. The balcony was huge and our view of the cruise liners on the intercoastal was amazing. Leo, the concierge helped us many times--first arranging for a rental car, then suggesting places to eat and places to hike. He really knew his stuff. The hotel is well situated so you can take a nice walk over the bridge and have access to many restaurants and shops. Although we didn't do it, I think you could walk to the beach which was about 1 and 1/2 miles away. My only complaint would be that we were right next to the service elevator (where the ice machine was located) and every morning at 7 we heard it going up and down. It was also a little noisy on the side of the tower we were on because we were right over the highway. Next time I would ask for a room facing the other way-away from the highway and away from the service elevator. By the way, ear plugs solved the noise problem. I would come back to the Hyatt Pier 66 in a heartbeat. In fact, my daughter and I wish we were still there right now!

Room Tip: Tower rooms facing away from the highway are quieter. The higher the floor, the better the view and...
