This hotel was much better than I expected from the reviews. We stayed April 10-13, 2008. It seems much has been done recently as the hotel decor was very chic and modern. The staff was nice and helpful. I understand that they have recently redone the Lanai rooms (by the pool) but am not sure if they have all been redone. The one we were offered was redone but did not have a tub so we passed and stayed in a Tower King on the 5th floor with a balcony overlooking the ocean and harbor. Completely updated and Very nice and roomy with a big flat screen tv.

The hotel is still under construction. You did see
men working around the grounds. The TV system wasn't
great and there was no ON DEMAND. That was stinky
since one night we just wanted to stay in and watch a
movie and then were stuck flipping channels.

The pool area was beautiful and peaceful. It was very relaxing. We ate at just about every restaurant. They were all very good and we went back multiple times to each. Pool bar good for a
snack and great drinks, Buffet breakfast great, steakhouse great, Pelican Landing bar, food & happyhour, great. It was VERY convenient to catch the dive boat. Not on the beach but not too far (5 minute ride or a 20 minute walk.) (We are not really beach people without the kids though we did go for a walk there).
Also, there is a water taxi right there that for $12 a person per day you can ride unlimited and it takes you to the beach, downtown, Las Olas (great shopping, tons of restaurants), all over Ft. Lauderdale, while getting a tour of the canals and the gorgeous homes. A great way to get around down there. (You can bring
drinks on the water taxi and just bar hop. There were
some great places on its journeys!)

We also used the spa which was just okay. We both had
massages that were not great (we've had better). The
services did not seem that outstanding nor did the
atmosphere.

For the price, the hotel experience was fantastic.
Though people had kids there, I would not recommend it
as a kid resort. It was a sedate, sophisticated atmosphere. The hotel did not offer any particular kid friendly activities or attractions. If I had brought my kids, I would have felt that their enjoying themselves would have infringed upon the other guests' quietude.

  • Liked — the chicness, location to dive boat, good restaurants
  • Disliked — still under construction and some kinks

We stayed here for one night and they upgraded us into one of the lanai rooms with a view of the marina. Coming from a bad experience in Miami, I must say, this was wonderful....all around. Staff...facilities...food...coffee...room....shower...everything...absolutely loved it and wished I was staying for the whole week. The pool was great...yummy pina coladas. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! The pictures on the web depict exactly what you see in your rooms. Bear in mind that we were in a recently updated room so that is a question you might want to ask. We were not in the tower. I just got home tonight and I miss it already!

This was a great hotel. It's more like a resort really because they have a huge pool, several hotels, gym, tennis and lots of manicured lawns and gardens.

We found ourselves hanging at the hotel all day while our son swam in the pool. At night we would go to the Pelican Landing restaurant for happy hour and dinner.

The only minus on this place is that there is nothing within walking distance if you want to get a cheap meal except for a Blimpie's.

If you don't have a rental car, taxis can really add up, but we easily avoided this. The only place we wanted to go was the beach for one afternoon. The ocean is about a mile away and not walking distance. I did run there every day though. The hotel has a shuttle to the beach.

Booked two rooms through Priceline, and I made sure to request 2 Tower Rooms through the hotel after being scared by the reviews I read. We were accomodated accordingly and the staff couldnt have been nicer during the 5 nights we were there. The pool was excellent. We only left it one day to check out the beach. The pool bar drinks are a little pricey, but that is to be expected. No problems with the room. Part of the balcony view was of the roof of the lobby, but was also of the huge drawbridge and the Marina, so it didnt bother us. Walk to the beach takes about 20 minutes or they have a shuttle every hour. Taxi's available almost all the time, which helped when heading out to dinner. No restaurants around the hotel, except their own. Pelican Landing has a small menu but the view is fantastic. I was traveling with 4 friends who are in their late 20's/early 30's and the only thing that could bother us was the hotel bar closing at 11pm. Overall, the hotel was excellent and I would stay again.
