i love Ft Lauderdale and have never stayed at this property before, so i was excited! one look at the pool online and i was sold! i knew the place was going to be under construction, so i was prepared. i am sorry but there was a horrible smell every time you walked thru the door, so bad that i didnt eat at any of the restarants they had to offer LOL. talk about being picky.
HOWEVER, i had the BEST stay and i loved the hotel itself. it was very elegant and i had a room in the tower bldg, which was the nicest. i loved my view, i had a view of the marina AND the ocean, you cant get better than that. we got to see cruise ships comming and going. i had a small problem the night i arrived, the shower stopped when i was in the shower and the light in the bathroom where the toilet was went out....but we called the front desk and when we returned back, it was all resolved with a card apologizing.
there are HUGE flat screens in every room, ice makers all over the place, it was a nice nice hotel. i usually stay at the ritz, and was just at the Ritz Carlton, and i would take this property over that one any day. the beds were SO comfy and the bathroom was luxurious! cant say enough. the best part was the pool tho, there are 2 pools and a HUGE hot tub that was the size of a pool, 30 people could easily fit in it and you could swim the length of it. thats how big it was! it wasnt hot at night tho, just warm, but thats better than cold! one pool was heated, the other one wasnt. it was very refreshing! they offer floats for $7 a day, and you can float around the pool. each pool had a waterfall. LOVED it. there were tons of little geckos running around, it was very serene. they offer cabanas if youd like. there is no towel service, you are on your own, no biggie!
only complaint: in the stairs of the VERY clean pool, there was many bugs, candy wrappers etc...but after you got thru that mess, you were in a VERY clean pool...it was weird...but when i saw the dead ROACH, i couldnt get in that pool again. (this was the heated pool) so i stayed in the cold pool the rest of my stay LOL.
the parking is valet or park yourself and they DO charge a resort fee, which is about 13-15$ a day, that you wont find out about untill you check out. we complained and this was taken off our bill.
all in all, loved this property and will deff stay again! i frequent Ft Lauderdale and have always wanted to stay here, im so glad i did! but the new Hilton looks awesome........lol
