“Perfect Perfect Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2010

This place was even better than expected, and we were expecting a lot based on the TripAdvisor reviews. Matt and Ernesto were wonderful hosts - the continental breakfast was well stocked with fresh fruit, strong coffee, and individual refrigerated containers of milk for cereal and orange juice. Muffins, bagels, etc. The grounds were private and well maintained. We stayed in Room 10, which is a two bedroom apartment style on the second floor. Queen sized beds and there was plenty of room to walk around and feel comfortable. Well air conditioned and two refrigerators! Three TVs were more than we could watch. From the balcony outside the front door (there was another balcony outside the back door), you could sit comfortably and see the beach and waves - very nice. If you want FAST access to Sebastian Beach, this is the only place to stay. I believe I read some reviews that said you are 5 minutes from the beach, but they must have been crawling. 60 seconds maximum. It might take 30 more seconds to get your feet wet once you make it to the sand. Location location location. The place is probably 50 years old, but it has updated amenities and has a wonderfully quaint feel that others have also written about. We will stay here again, and recommend this place. Very reasonable rates. Can't say too many good things about it. Even the geckos here have gotten fat sunning themselves right next to the pool!

I have stayed here several times and plan to stay many more when in Fort Lauderdale. The friendly staff and owner go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and relaxed.

This is a great little hotel just a half-block from Ft. Lauderdale beach. Both Ernesto (the manager) and Matt (the owner) were great, providing everything asked for with exceptional service. We stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment type of room, which was great with the two kids - we had room to spread out. The pool and patio area are great, too! When we return to Ft Lauderdale, we'll return to the Alhambra.

Trip Advisor did not steer us wrong on this one. The place is a hidden gem. It's like being in your own private oasis in the midst of big & beautiful Ft. Lauderdale. Ernesto was fantastic & the accommodations were wonderful. Will definitely be back.

A 1930s apartment building turned into secluded, quaint perfection. Like others have said, it is a very short walk to the beach. We found the pool area much more convenient after the first couple of days. No crowds, sand all over and interresting locals jogging on the beach in garments that are far from eye appealing. It is very well landscaped with trees, plants, flowers, fountains and a little backgound music playing during the day. You simply walk out the door to your room and grab a seat under an umbrella or lounge chair if you want some sun.
Every morning we were there, we had the breakfast that is set out for all the guests to enjoy. Cereal, cinnamon rolls, bagels, fruit, juice, etc. It's really perfect to get the day started and save a few bucks along the way. Another tip to pass along, the property has a gas grill that is available for any of the guests to use. We cooked burgers, brats and sausage for lunches so we didn't have to spend extra money or get out. The grocery store is only 5 minutes away by car.
We stayed in room 6. It is on the right front side of the building and has its own separate entrance. The room was a bit small, but why would you be in your room that much at this place? It was very clean and had a fridge and microwave. They provide a laptop in the common area for anyone to use, but if you bring your own, free wifi works well in the room as well as by the pool.
The location is great. Lots of restaurants, shopping and nightlife within walking distance. We got a car this trip to Ft. Lauderdale and wished we would have saved the money. The airport (FLL) is only 15 minutes from here.
I'll finish by raving about the staff. You cannot find more genuine owners, management or housekeeper. They're all around throughout the day making sure you have every and anything you need. Ernesto, the manager, went above and beyond multiple times during our visit. I proposed to my wonderful, fantastic girlfriend (brownie points for me) on the first night we were there. The next day while we were relaxing by the pool, he comes out of the office with a nice bottle of champagne and two glasses and congratulated us. Three days later, a family that was staying there had a son who was celebrating a birthday. Ernesto appears with a birthday cake and has everyone by the pool help sing happy birthday to him. This doesn't happen anymore.
No doubt we'll be back and we are going to bring friends and family with us next time.

Great location two minutes from the faboulous beach yet a peaceful and quiet. Ernesto the manager was brilliant with advice on restaurants and things to do and see. It was my son's birthday while we were there and he turned up at the pool with a birthday cake and announced it at the pool. Fresh towels in the room every day Fresh towels for the beach/pool every day. Loungers/seats to take to the beach and a laptop with internet access available. We had room 10 with 2 bedrooms full air con, tv, kitchen and seats on the veranda that had views to the sea. Nice and clean just like home from home. We loved the place and want to go back as soon as possible.

Words cannot express how truly special this place is. If you're looking for the Ritz, this isn't it. Quiet, charming, laid back, and the feeling that you're personal friends with the owner is what you get at Cafe Alhambra. This was my second visit and I can't wait to return.
