“Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2013

Well. Where to start. Wife and I were looking to get away for a few days, get away from the New England weather, catch the Dolphins & Patriots game at Sun Life Stadium, relax, not spend a whole lot of dough, be close to the beach, find friendly environs, have a little privacy, a pool, and did I mention relax? Lo and behold, we found it. Thanks to Tripadvisor and a little homework, we found this gem. About 200 yards from one of Florida's nicest, most popular beaches. The reviews are pretty accurate. The Alhambra is not the Ritz (which is just down the street, if you prefer) but it is also not $500 a night. What it is, is small (10 rooms or so), cozy, clean, albeit somewhat aged and very homey. Take it from a native Floridian, this place mirrors old Florida. Right in the middle of all the Ft. Lauderdale glitz. Enough privacy and quiet to suit. The staff is very personable. Very friendly and will go out of their way to help, provide info, and assist in ways that will leave the Ritz people way behind. The location is great. We had a rental car and within minutes were just about anywhere we wanted to be. Met the owner and several of the staff and all were conversational and down to earth. We felt comfortable here as well as secure.

The Alhambra is not a five star hotel. There is no restaurant. No turn down service. No bar. No concierge. No workout facilities (you can walk/run on the beach). No big ticket frills. If that's what you're looking for, go elsewhere. But it is comfy and quiet and well located and won't break the bank. We were so impressed, we are actually planning a return trip in the coming year. Better book early.

Stayed for a second time in twelve months and would never stay anywhere else whilst in the area. Matt and Bill were really helpful, the room was spotlessly clean. Have no qualms about recommending the Alhambra to anyone

In 2004 we stayed a week at this establishment. I feel in love with the courtyard and pool. The service, value, location, and features were all great. Recently, Dec 8,2013, we were returning from a 7 night cruise out of Miami and decided to stay a night in Ft Lauderdale prior to returning to Baltimore by train. I remembered how nice the Alhambra was so I booked it again. I made our one night reservation in March. Everything was just as nice if not even more beautiful than I remembered. I could just sit in the courtyard all day. This location is just a short walk to the beach, restaurants, bars, and shopping. Cabs are plentiful and easy to get around. Both Matt and Bill are very nice and accommodating. I'm looking forward to my next visit and it will be in 2014, I'm not waiting years this time...

Room Tip: Check their website for full floor plan. Front lower level rooms are the best. Just wake up and walk...

Went for vacations after cruising to Mexico for few days. We were two couples that sharedan appartment they've created joining two rooms, with a nice livingroom, dinning area and a fully equiped kitchen.
The place was ready when we arrived, tha A/C was on and the room completely comfortable.
The staff was always aware of our needs.

I visited this resort for one night before a cruise. We actually booked two rooms. I can't begin to describe how much we enjoyed this resort. We were greeted at the gate upon arrival. Escorted to our rooms and showed around the resort. The service was above and beyond. The friendliest people I ever met. My Dad was amazed and immediately said this will be the only place he wanted to stay when we visited the area again. Thank you for such a great stay. I plan all our cruises and hotels. This is our place!

I had clients contact me from the hotel joking they wish they could cancel their cruise and remain at the Alhambra. They said from checkin to departure it was a wonderful stay. They were in room 5 and the unit was beyond their expections. The staff was friendly and helpful.
They advised me for all pre cruise future booking from Fort Lauderdale this is the place.
Only con is they do not work with professional travel agents. Would be nice if they
recognized the important role we provide in suggesting hotels to clients.

Room Tip: a car or taxi is suggested reach a larger selection of place to dine. Room 5 has full kitchen

Stayed here for a couple of nights before our cruise.

Upon arrival, Eddie came out to meet us at the gate. He was nice and friendly and explained the keys and other information. He was also able to provide recommendations during our stay.

It was a good first impression, and I could immediately see why this place gets such a great rating. The property looks so clean and well maintained and each evening we saw a fellow wiping over the pool furniture. The owners/managers are also hands on and ensure that everything is neat and tidy and clean and they are available and visible and readily interact with guests.

We had tried to book a standard room, but they were all booked so we opted for the executive apartment. Our one bedroom apartment ($209 per night) was stunning. Luxurious furnishings and fittings. Separate bedroom and bathroom. Exotic looking ceiling fans and expensive looking full kitchen. We felt like royalty! Must be just about the nicest accommodation we have ever stayed in.

There were 2 tvs, air con, sofa, table, chairs.

Continental breakfast was included and it was set up on the ground floor verandah. There was juice, cereals, bagels, pastries, etc. You could eat it on the verandah or out in the pool area.

Just a couple of block from the beach, shops, restaurants, supermarket and water taxi.

A cab was organised to take us to the cruise terminal.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this gorgeous place, with the friendly owners and staff.

Note: If you are thinking of catching the Supershuttle from Miami airport to this place, perhaps consider finding some other method of transport. It cost us a pre-paid $185 for a transfer, it was really difficult to find the stand and the van seemed old and rattly. It was a total rip-off.

Thankfully the Alhambra made us forget that unfortunate welcome to Florida.

Room Tip: I think the extra cost to get the apartment is well worth it for the extra space you get. But I thin...
