“The Alhambra Beach Resort - A Friendly Resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

Recently my family (consisting of five including my husband, sister, daughter in law and 12 year old granddaughter) visited Fort Lauderdale and stayed at the Alhambra Beach Resort on Alhambra Street and only 400 feet from beautiful Ft. Lauderdale Beach.
This was not our first stay at this wonderful resort. It has become our second home when we go to Ft. Lauderdale for a visit and include a cruise out of Port Everglades. This resort owned and operated by Matt with a great crew of helpers including another Matt, Eddie and Daisy in the office, Bill, and also Gabbie who keeps the rooms in A-1 shape are great people to visit. They cannot do enough to help you. They find you the best taxi drivers, give you directions, make your phone calls finding out information, print off your boarding passes....they do it all.
The resort is wonderful. It has a private pool, lovely garden area, outside tables and umbrellas and lots of chairs and lounges for sun bathing.
The rooms are clean and spacious each having a private bathroom. Some units have kitchens while larger two bedroom units have a dining room and living room....Each morning Matt prepares everything for breakfast which consists of hot coffee, orange juice, cereal, milk, toast and English muffins, Danish and an assortment of muffins. There is a good variety to help you start your day. Also a huge bowl of fresh fruit is available each and every morning.
Lots of clean beach towels, umbrellas and chairs to take down to Ft. Lauderdale Beach and another added feature is a place to leave your extra luggage containing winter clothing while you go away on your cruise.
It is like being home.
We had a great five day stay this time. While there we went to the beach, visited a number of nearby malls, walked over to the Ritz Carlton for lunch at their pool deck and visited the Casablanca Restaurant several times...The bus stop is only two minutes from the resort and the Hop On Trolly is right at the corner. The Alhambra is located in a very convenient location.
There is a variety of beach wear shops. a drug store, sidewalk and waterside restaurants all within minutes of the Alhambra Beach Resort.
The water taxi stop which travels the inland waterways is only a few blocks away. This too is a hop on and hop off taxi service along the waterways in Ft. Lauderdale. The Alhambra Beach Resort has received lots of recognition over the years from travel sites stating this is the place to stay.
We had a great visit and are already planning another visit in 2013.

Room Tip: A great place to stay - close to the beach and close to lots of great restaurants

We spent one night at Alhambra Beach Resort before boarding a cruise. First time in Fort Lauderdale. Do not believe it is possible to beat the value/comfort/location combination this resort offers. It's only a couple minutes walk to the ocean promenade, the water taxi and the city trolley to access everything or just kick back at the beautiful pool side gardens and enjoy the sunshine. Extra bonuses included the owner, Matt, greeting us and carrying our luggage to our room and the personal, welcoming atmosphere the entire staff provided. It felt like we were staying with family. A nice touch of old school hospitality!

Ok, so I would have given this a five star but think of this place as beach casual not Four Seasons / Ritz. It is five star for what it is but I do not want to confuse anyone who might be expecting a luxury hotel.

Before we went I had communicated with staff about dining as we were arriving there Thanksgiving eve. They sent several top notch recommendations and links to the restaurant web sites. Great job. I then happened to mention about movie theatres in the area. Again, like a very good concierge service they sent info and links to theatres in area. We found the staff to be very friendly, honest. It was like a "good family" who actually cared.

Room was spotless clean and property is in great location. If you are taking a cruise ship out, figure ten minutes by taxi.

FYI. They will warn you and correctly so about the taxi drivers who seem to have "trouble" finding the place in spite of the GPS (they keep in glove box.) Google the directions before you go from airport and it will be a big help.

The best recommendation I can give is that we would go back and stay there without a second thought.

Loved this place! Everyone was so nice! Comfortable bed and warm pool. We will be back!

My husband and I arrived on Saturday for a cruise leaving the next day. This was the perfect place to avoid the "cruise crowds". We strolled the beach which is right across the street. We dined at one of the many restaurants in walking distance of this B&B. After dinner swim in the warmest ever pool.

We stayed there for 2 Night Post Cruise Nov.11-13/12. We had a group of eight, four rooms. I don't think any of the rooms are alike and the prices very from room to room. My Wife and I stayed in the 1 bedroom Executive apartment. It was spotless, loved the Kitchen! Very nicely decorated. Bathroom was nice but the fixtures in some ways weren't quite as fancy as rest of apartment. No wow factor, but the again it's a bathroom :-)

No Lobby here, just a small office on your left as you enter through the Front Gate. The Grounds/Garden are immaculate. They have a Pool and lots of places to sit.

Location is only about 1/2 block from the beach. The Hotel has Beach stuff (Chairs, etc..) for use.

We got to the Hotel early and Staff were great. Felt sorry for the one Staff member who dragged all our luggage (25+ pcs, don't ask ;-( ), to the basement as our rooms weren't ready. Then had to drag it all back when they were ready.

If your looking for a quaint boutique Hotel (not your typical chain) in Great condition, great location, and with Great staff. This is the place to stay in Fort Lauderdale.

We stayed here 2 nights before a cruise and it was great! The owners, and workers are so friendly and you had a family feel with the other guests.

Everyone was so helpful on things to do and places to see and eat. I can't say enough! And the location is perfect!

We found this place by accident looking for a place to stay before our cruise and now we can't wait to go back.

If you are taking a taxi to this place, make sure you print out the directions and take it with you. I was prepared and was glad. I had to tell the taxi driver how to get there.

We stayed at the Alhambra Beach from 14 th to 17 th of November prior to Caribbean cruise. Matt and Eddie couldn't have been more helpful. Continental breakfast at side of pool was great and all the staff advised us as to where we should visit, directions etc. We got to the stage where we wanted to stay longer and miss the cruise! We will book a return visit in the very near future
