“Amazing Location, Staff, and Resort!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2012

My husband and I just returned from spending nearly a week at the Alahambra and had a great time! Ernesto took care of all of our needs while we were there and provided excellent recommendations for things to do and places to eat. We stayed in room 2 and it was absolutely perfect. It was very clean, comfortable, and we had our own private porch and exit. We loved it! The grounds and pool are absolutely pristine. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Ft. Lauderdale now that we have been here. We will definitely be back and plan to recommend this place to friends and family. Thank you Ernesto for making us feel at home while in Ft. Lauderdale!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 2 which had its own entrance and patio. It was perfect for the two of us. It had a...

I stayed at the Alhambra during a conference at the Convention Center. When I arrived a hour prior to check-in, I was greeted warmly and immediately checked into my room. There was plenty of parking for my car just outside of the hotel. As you walk into this gated property, you find yourself in a private tropical courtyard with a nice pool. It was beautiful. I stayed in room 6, which is very small, but fine for one or two people. It was clean, with nice linens. Although the room is a little dated, it had a nice flat screen TV, coffee maker, microwave, and relatively large refrigerator. With a Publix grocery store nearby on Sunrise Avenue (and Whole Foods less than 5 miles away) it was easy to get some supplies for my stay. These rooms were very competitively priced - actually less than the Holiday Inn Expresses I have stayed in previously while in FLL, but the Alhambra was much, much, much nicer.

The beach is a short walk away and an excellent restaurant on the corner, the Casablanca. The convention center is 2 miles south on A1A, but because this hotel is a block from the Weston and Hilton, there may be shuttle stops for the Convention center nearby (this depends on the conference).

Several minor issues: There is no room cleaning on Sunday - so make sure you have enough towels, etc (however they do provide extra towels and chairs for the beach). The front office has limited hours - so check ahead with the office if you need something. The free breakfast was from 9 to 10:30 AM, which was too late for me because of the conference so I never had the breakfast.

A word of caution regarding Fort Lauderdale beach - Avoid it on the weekends. The traffic on A1A was bumper to bumper Saturday and Sunday and in the evenings the beach and A1A can be a bit rough. The beach and adjacent sidewalks on Saturday night looked and smelled like an ashtray - hot, smokey and dirty. If you need to drive in on the weekend, come in on Sunrise ave and drive south on A1A - you will avoid most of the traffic this way.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel - it was beautiful, comfortable, and peaceful. Although I am reluctant to go back to Fort Lauderdale, if I do, I will return to the Alhambra!

Room Tip: Check out the webpage - there are nice photos and descriptions of the rooms. Room 6 is very small b...

This little haven was well situated. It was close to the beach and to the water taxi. The owners had thought about everything their guests may need and were very happy to help, as required, whilst keeping in the background.
The gardens were immaculate and the pool area was well maintained.
There was a good variety of foods available for breakfast, free WIFI and a computer available for most of the day if needed.

My husband and I have stayed here on an annual basis for the Fort Lauderdale Air & Sea Show. After a 5 year hiatus, it was back in 2012 so we were happy to be back at Alhambra Beach Resort! We highly recommend this resort for anyone wanting to stay near the beach in Fort Lauderdale, and it's location is within convenient walking distance to Beach Place. Both Matt and Ernesto are so welcoming and hospitable! A poolside continental breakfast is included and they also provide beach chairs, umbrellas and towels for the beach! If you want a break from the beach, the pool courtyard is a great place to relax too. I highly recommend this resort!

Recently stayed here for 10 days. The trip being a mixture of a family wedding and a vacation. Stayed in Room 9. Very nice, clean and well kept room with a full kitchen. Matt and Ernesto are wonderful hosts who do all they can to ensure that their guests find their stay enjoyable. Our suits for the wedding did not travel well and Ernesto recommended a dry cleaner who would press the suits with same day delivery. He gave us directions, we got the suits back the same day at a very reasonable price. The Alhambra, both inside and out, is well maintained. The pool area is very comfortable and relaxing. The location is perfect, the beach is one half of a block away, stores and restaurants are within short walking distance, yet once inside the resort it is very quiet and peaceful. I would highly recommend staying at the Alhambra. Beach Resort.
