“Like Being Home - The Alhambra Beach Resort Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2011

A year ago I found the Alhambra Beach Resort Hotel on line and I received such a nice reply to my email I knew right away this was going to be a wonderful place to stay and I was right. Ernesto answered my first email and before long we were emailing back and forth and he always had answers to my questions. My sister and I were taking a 10 day cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale with Royal Caribbean and this hotel was the perfect location. It is only a few steps to the magnificent Fort Lauderdale Beach, around the corner from the wonderful Casablanca Cafe which offers a great menu and good service. There are all kinds of shops and sidewalk cafes and restaurants within a few blocks of the Alhambra. The hotel has 10 rooms with two large two bedroom suites with kitchen, dining area and living room. These units also have two bathrooms. This is the unit we had during our four day stay and it gave us plenty of room. The one bedroom units have lots of space, balcony and private bathrooms. Each morning Ernesto or Matt, who is one of the owners, prepares a great continental breakfast of juice, hot coffee, muffins, cereal, fruit, and a variety of English muffins and bagels for toasting. There is also a good supply of granola bars for a mid morning snack. Breakfast is included in the price.
The hotel is located on a beautiful property with lots of shade palm trees, flowering shrubs and lots of flowers. A heated pool surrounded by lounge chairs makes the property a wonderful place to relax.
The hotel is exceptionally clean and well kept. The grounds are constantly looked after and each night a cleaner arrives to make sure all the lawn furniture is prepared for the next day.
Alhambra Beach Resort is the place to stay if you want a quiet vacation but close to all the action which is only one city block away.
My husband and I made a trip this November to Ft. Lauderdale and of course Alhambra was the place to stay.
Again we went on a cruise and it is only a 10 minute taxi ride to Port Everglades and about 20 minutes to the airport...There are also wonderful shopping malls only a short drive or by the local bus which is 400 feet away. There is also the Hop On-Hop Off buss right at the corner near the Casablanca Cafe. There is also a stop by the sightseeing water taxi tour only a block away. You can buy your water taxi ticket at the Alhambra and spend the day on the intercostal waterways seeing the magnificent homes and yachts. The water taxi is also a hop on and hop off operation with plenty of restaurants and shops along the way.
The sunrise at the beach is magnificent and if you are up to it, you can join the dozens who walk and jog along the wide sidewalk near the beach. They usually start around 6:30 a.m. and you can join them any time of the day.
Alhambra is in a five star location and offers five star service. It is a true treasure. When you are out all day at the beach, sightseeing or shopping, coming back to the Alhambra is like coming home.
The Alhambra is a great place for us. As far as we are concerned it is a five star experience. We will be back again that is for sure.

Next time you're planning a trip abroad (whether it be to Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, etc.), book your home-away-from-home at the incomparable ALHAMBRA BEACH RESORT in Fort Lauderdale, Florida -- and fly back each morning to your chosen vacation spot.

Okay -- obviously I'm kidding. But what I'm trying to express simply through exaggeration is that I wish in earnest there were a "clone-chain" of ALHAMBRA BEACH RESORTS wherever in the world I might choose to vacation.

Because the room I'd originally booked was being rennovated, I was upgraded to a five-room suite (at no additional charge), consisting of two spacious bedrooms (each with its own SPOTLESSLY CLEAN bathroom and flat-screen TV), a dining room, a living room (with flat-screen TV), a SPOTLESSLY CLEAN kitchen equipped with ***EVERYTHING ON EARTH*** you'd require to prepare your own meals...AND...there were actually FOUR airconditioners. (Oh, and forget the 29-dollar-a-day-(plus-tip) valet parking. Each guest has his own -- FREE! -- parking spot.)

Everything worked perfectly: from the lighting, to the toilets, to the microwave, to the TVs, to the four airconditioners, to those wonderful shower heads, to the hot water, to the excellent outside gate security. Even the pillows were uncommonly comfortable and conducive to restful sleep.

The pool was heated to 86 degrees (6 feet at its deepest end), and although somewhat small, I always emerged from it completely satisfied after a vigorous 40-minute workout. The area around the pool was landscaped most attractively and created a lush, semi-tropical atmosphere of quiet serenity.

Best of all, the one thing this place did *not* have was NOISE: No loud, nerve-jarring door slamming at any time during the day or night on the part of rude, inconsiderate hotel guests -- UNCONSCIONABLE IDIOTS WITHOUT A SINGLE JOT OF COMMON SENSE! -- who interrupt your sleep either late at night or early in the morning. This was one of the very few hotels where I was able to get a good night's worth of peaceful sleep and wake up each morning totally refreshed.

Continental breakfast consisted of a wide assortment of cereals, yogurt, muffins, pastries, fresh fruit, coffee, etc. (Frankly, I preferred to stop off at PUBLIX or WINN-DIXIE, stock up on the breakfast victuals more suited to my taste and take advantage of the hotel's fantastic (again, SPOTLESSLY CLEAN) kitchen and appliances to prepare my own breakfasts.)

The convenient ("in-the-midst-of-it-all") location of the hotel was about half a mile north of Las Olas Blvd., though you're more than likely to want a car for in-depth exploration of the surrounding area and its numerous attractions.

Finally, hats off to Matt and Ernesto -- along with the rest of the hotel staff -- who seemed willing and eager to do everything possible to make my vacation stay a raving success.

Damn it! -- I just want to go on praising the ALHAMBRA BEACH RESORT from now until Doomsday, but I can't think of anything else to mention. I think I covered all the essentials. So let me simply end with these humble words of wisdom:

Don't cheat yourself out of enjoying one of the most memorable hotel experiences you're ever likely to have. Let the "poor," oppulent-minded uppercrust seek out status symbols like the "nickle-and-dime-ya" Ritz-Carlton. I guarantee you'll strike a gold mine right here at the ALHAMBRA BEACH RESORT.

Room Tip: Room Number 7 was awesome!

First, let me start by saying that Matt is an excellent host. As other reviewers have said, its like your friend letting you stay at their beach house for the night. We arrived WAY early after a cruise and Matt was extremely accommodating. He held our luggage in the office and gave us maps and tips regarding the area. Also, offered us breakfast and let us check in early (as soon as the room was clean). I cannot say enough about the service, you'll have to experience it. The breakfast was very impressive compared to other continental breakfasts. The only drawback to the Alhambra was the room. It was very clean, but dated. The bathroom was pretty rough with quite a bit of wear & tear. I don't think this should deter anyone from staying, just thought it should be included.

Room Tip: This review was for room #10.

A great little accomodation very close to Ft Lauderdale beach. Very clean and decent sized rooms (we stayed in rooom 8). Our room had 2 decks - one overlooking the pool (with a partially obstructed view of the ocean) and one overlooking a non-scenic area between buildings. The location is great - quiet, but easy walking distance to the "busy" area of Ft Lauderdale Bearch - where all of the restaurants, bars, etc are located.

Pluses:
1) Close to the beach,
2) quiet neighborhood but only a short walk to the "busy" area of the beach with restaurants, bars, etc.
3) very clean
4) nice pool area
5) nice deck area
6) continental breakfast
7) very nice/helpful staff
8) in-room refrigerator (good size), coffee maker, microwave and toaster
9) very reasonbly priced
10) free parking

Negatives:
1) no desk area in the room
2) no maid service on Sundays (would be nice if they told you in advance)

We just stayed one night after getting off a cruise in Fort Lauderdale. We chose this hotel based on the favourable reviews in Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. Ernesto and Matt were wonderful hosts and couldn't have been more helpful or made us feel more welcome. The continental breakfast was excellent and most enjoyable to eat from our patio on the second floor with views of the courtyard pool and ocean beyond. We stayed in room 9 and made full use of the kitchen facilities. There is a CVS store two blocks away where we bought some food, and the Casablanca restaurant on the corner is highly rated on trip advisor. We just wanted a cold drink and made the mistake of stopping at the Restaurant Del Mar (reviewed separately).

Our only negative comment would be about the noisy air conditioning.

All in all, we would definitely stay at the Alhambra Beach Resort again.
