“vintage 60's motel...clean and comfy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

This was an excellent value for the price ($60.00 for two, slightly off-season). Based on prior TripAdvisor reviews, we chose this retro, extra-clean, convenient motel and were not disappointed. We appreciated the off-season quiet, refrigerator/freezer and microwave in the room, free parking, free wireless internet, and good chpice of cable TV channels. The beaches are close by (we drove), and the FLL airport is only about a 20-25 minute drive during low traffic. You can't book directly online, but we had no problems booking over the phone. Our room was ready as promised, and we were more than happy with the price and basic accommodations.
We recommend the Polynesian dance show and drinks at the Mai Kai, just around the corner from the Ocean Breeze on Highway 1 in Ft. Lauderdale. Bring back the 60's - you can do it in Fort Lauderdale!

This is our third time to stay at the Ocean Breeze conveniently located on A1 near Galt Ocean Mile and Pompano. We're always pleased with the comfort of the rooms, all have microwaves and refrigerators, and the cleanliness. The owners are hardworking and accommodating. Off season rates are excellent. Only caveats: bring your own shampoo and the televisions could stand to be replaced.

I love Mom & Pop establishments and try to patronize them whenever I can. This one is a winner. As other reviews mention, the owners are very helpful and the place is spotless. For $50 a night off-season, it's also great value. The Winn-Dixie grocery store across the street is a big plus, but note that you can't get to the beach without walking half-a-mile in either direction. Direct access is blocked by private condo buildings, and when you finally make it you'll be surprised how narrow and eroded it is this far north. Another downer is that the air-conditioning units make a lot of noise, but I expect this is normal for their type. There is an Internet cable in the room but you have to know where to look for it (tip: top of the TV). Wake-up calls are similarly mysterious. The telephone says nothing about them but if you ask at the front desk they'll gladly arrange one.

As good as this place is, you needn't really book ahead in Fort Lauderdale off season -- there are tons of similar properties if you care to shop around. That this one has risen so high in the rankings is because it has reached critical mass in the number of reviews rather than being anything extraordinary -- like a good bar, people go because people go. If you value certainty on a budget, however, you can't go wrong here.

Needed a place to stay on a whim. I'm slightly germaphobic and hotels/motels usually really gross me out. This place was so clean I felt right at ease! The owner was really nice, the pool area is really sweet. It doesn't look like much compared to the rest of the block at first, but I don't think I've ever stayed any where so clean, and I was in the hospitality industry for many years. This place beats any corporate hotel, suite and resort. Definitly will be back!

This hotel was fantastic for the price. The room was spotless and the outside areas were too. The pool was heated. Fantastic location. Bed was huge. Will definitely go back again. I left my phone charger in the room and the manager called me the same day - I hadn't even noticed.

Room Tip: All the rooms are facing the pool

This place is fantastic bang for the buck!!! Do not pass up the opportunity of staying here if you are in Ft. Lauderdale and looking for a place to sleep/relax.
It is absolutely the cleanest place we have seen in a long time. The owner does not ever sit - he is in constant motion cleaning and polishing and sweeping... you get the idea.
This is an old motel (retro) so do not expect the so called glamour of the new hotels, but that being said, the place is like jumping back in time. It does not have the wear and tear of an old motel, rather it is like time travel...you have arrived at the newly built motel - in 1955.
It has outside:
A spotless swimming pool
Small but clean deck area beside the pool with lounge chairs
An outside sitting area with tables/umbrellas (spotless of course
A barbeque
A grocery market across the street
Beach within 5 minute walk (across the road, but no direct access)
The rooms:
Spotless!! Clean!!
Spacious - 2 double beds, 1 desk, night table, dresser, tv, refridgerator with freezer (not bar size), oversize closet
Bathroom with large window (frosted glass), sink, toilet, tub with shower
Tile floors without a spec of dirt to be found anywhere! (really, I started looking and couldn't find any!)
The prices are fabulous for this close to the beach.
PRIDE of ownership is evident no matter where you look.
On site laundry facilities.
