“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

Stayed at the Westin Beach Resort &Spa as part of a timeshare promo package. I cannot fault the hotel. The room and view were spectacular and the beds were divine. The restraunt downstairs was not cheap but the food was great and woth the price. The location was not near any shopping centres but lots of restraunts within walking distance.

A very nice resort with one flaw: the rooms seem to have been designed with the thought only one person would be staying in them. The bathroom doors are a type of sliding shutter. A separate opening/window to the main room is covered by shutters also. The result is anyone sharing the room will have their senses tested as others take care of business in the bathroom. If you're traveling alone, it's not a big deal and somewhat of a novelty. A family stay would be mostly out of the question. Aside from that the resort's common areas, conference facilities, food and amenities were very good. A taxi from the airport cost $30-35; worthwhile given the hotel charges for parking. If traveling on a budget you may want to look further inland. Room rates and the cost of dining in the area are rather steep.

From the entire check-in process to the weekend stay, everything at the Westin was perfect! We were staying in an intercoastal suite and it was the perfect size. The view was amazing. I was very impressed with how cozy and clean the rooms were. I definitely recommend this place for travelers who are looking for a nice place to stay at Ft. Lauderdale Beach.

My only suggestion would be that the suites should have a microwave and fridge for guests to use, but other than that it was perfect.

My daughter and I just returned from a weeks stay at this hotel and had a marvelous time. The views of the beach and the pool from our room were breathtaking. Rooms were very clean and a variety of amenities were provided. Fresh bottled water every day was a nice touch also. The pool was perfect with a pool side bar and restaurant. There was an elevated walkway to the beach if one wanted to swim in the ocean.
There was a Starbucks in the hotel for a quick breakfast and a dining room for more leisurely meals. Exercise room with equipment facing floor to ceiling windows looking out on the ocean made one want to exercise while enjoying the views!
Valet parking was very efficient and helpful with providing directions.

Room Tip: Valet parking is provided at $28 a day plus tax.

We stayed here for one night before we had to fly out the next day. we had dinner at the sushi bar and I paid for it with my debit card. I signed the merchants copy and then we headed back to our room. Everything was fine until it was time to check out. Tamera Bell was checking us out and we noticed the same charges from dinner on our room bill. You may have thought this would be an easy fix since we had dinner in the hotel BUT it wasn't! She looked through all the recipts and found the one I signed and said, "if you paid with your debit card then why did you sign?" Hello! Isn't that the normal process of signing the receipt when you paid for it when a card?!?!?!?!? I showed them on my bank app. that they were charging me for the dinner and that she shouldn't be charging us TWICE. When we asked for a manager, she told us that they were all in a meeting and won't be out for an hour... I found it strange that she couldn't get anyone to handle our situation as WE ARE THE CUSTOMER. We didn't have time to sit around and wait as we had a flight to catch. Tamara said she will write and email to management asking them to review our dispute and that we should get a response by the end of the day. We were CC'ed in the email to Tim Hehman, Oatis Smith, Daniel Farrell, Kelly Alvarez, Omar Thomas, Jayanyi Boyd and Escu Thompson. Tamara said she wouldn't charge it on the room until she heard back. A week goes by and there is NO response/update. My friend gets her statement and they ended up charging her for the dinner! She sends a follow up email asking them to please respond or she will have to dispute it. AGAIN NO RESPONSE FROM WESTIN. You are wondering why I am now just writing this review? We are still dealing with this situation and its just unacceptable. Is this how you do business?! Most expensive sushi dinner EVER.

Staff in shula's restaurant for Sunday brkfst very depressed looking. Buffett wasn't a Sunday brunch by any means.

Water is tinted yellow in toilet and sink, but saw the same color at restaurants near by. Need a filtration system. Rooms nicely remodeled, just need to clean the black dusty airvents.

Went green (chose to not have room cleaned) to get 500 spg points, but arrived later to see room cleaned. Lost points.

Place is nice, just need details worked on.

1. Easy check in and valet experience 2. Friendly service 3. Great business meeting rooms with gorgeous views of the ocean 4. Shulas restaurant has great food and bar area 5. Easy walk over to other restaurants 6. Pool deck renovations were being done at the time ( pool still open ). 7. Rooms are not as private as I would like. If you are using the toilet, your family or room mate will hear everything that you are doing in the bathroom!!!!! I would advise the hotel to add more soundproofing.
