“Great location, great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

If you want a wonderful hotel with an attentive staff, across the road from the world-famous Fort Lauderdale beach, this is it. I had a room that overlooked the pool & beach in the North tower. As it was late January, opening the sliding glass door in the mornings & at night were a treat. Nothing like going to sleep to the sound of the surf. Bear in mind the the road is US1, which gets very busy during the day & even into the night. The rooms are great, the staff very good & the restaurant (Shula's, the chain) is awesome. There is also a Starbucks in the South tower.

Room Tip: Stay in the North tower for easy access to the pool.

Hands down the best hotel on the beach for the rate. Very accommodating, clean, modern hotel. The Westin has everything you need. Great gym & spa, and the pool/beach area are perfect.

I'll be coming back in this summer.

Loved it!!! Reception area is very nice, smart and contemporary. Rooms are cool as in all Westin hotels, just not sure about bathroom with wooden "windows" and sliding wooden doors... Minor stuff and of course, bathroom amenities are sinful!
Hotel has 2 towers, so ask to be locted in the main one, otherwise it's quite a walk and bit messy elevator system awaits you...
Loved Starbucks products in the room + coffe shop downstairs...

My husband and I stayed @ Westin Beach Resort in January. 4 nights. We have SPG points, so we stayed for free. We were deciding btwn Westin and the W, which is next door. Westin was significantly less points, (so I am assuming less $/night as well, so we decided on Westin. THRILLED WE DID.
Rooms were very nice and very clean. There is a starbucks in the hotel (only starbucks on beach). Gym was clean and did the job. Great location. Pool was nice. Staff in the hotel was friendly. Ate at the new sushi restaurant- very good. At breakfast at Shulas. Excellent. It was a little pricey- so we ate there 2 of the 4 days. It wasn't noisy and there is coffee/tea/water bottles in your room.

2 NEGATIVES: they BLAST THE A/C and the pillows were too soft.

Side note- we have stayed at W hotels before, and went to visit W Ft. Lauderdale for our next trip there. W is VERY NICE, but very different feel. If you are looking for a cool, hip hotel, I would recommend the W. If you are looking for a more family feel, I would recommend Westin.
If you are going away for a couple's weekend - either would do the trick.

There are a lot cheesy restaurants on the strip- specific for tourists. We recommend, Casa Blanca for lunch and dinner, St. Barts for Bkfst, Steak 954 @ the W for dinner @ Coconuts for lunch/dinner.

ALSO- WOULD NOT REC GOING IN JAN. Weather is very hit/miss. It was miss more most of our stay, but still much nicer that North East Winter.

Room Tip: not first floor

We booked on Hotwire and got a great deal. We weren't sure which hotel we would end up by using Hotwire but I was very pleased with the Westin. The beach is across the street and Shula's Steakhouse was right there. The pool was up a few floors and looked down onto the beach (across the street). The service was much better than expected for Fort Lauderdale. Sadly it was windy while we were there but it would have been windy anywhere else. Good hotel.

Stayed two nights pre cruise and was surprised just how comfortable, friendly and nice the place was. Located right next to all the bars and restaurants, right across from the beach and just a short taxi ride to the mall. The rooms where large and clean, though as mentioned before the window from bedroom to bathroom is something to note when travelling with friends ..
Pool is clean though can be breezy as it is located on the third floor looking over the ocean .. Great views are an added bonus.
The restaurant downstairs food superb but beware not cheap ! .. Also paying for Internet should not really be the norm in a mainstream hotel these days.
All the staff where really friendly but we did have to contend an item that had been put on our bill that was not even for our room or signed in the same name just a similar name ..
Would stay again if the right rate was on offer .. Great for a short stay !

The Westin Beach Resort was a great place to stay in the heart of the Ft. lauderdale Beach area. . We had booked through a third party and so we were pleasantly surprised when we got a lovely upgrade to an ocean view room. The hotel was immaculate, fresh and inviting.

The outdoor pool, located on the third floor was a notch above. The pool attendants were on the ball, placing fresh covers and towels on the lounge chair of choice as soon as you entered. The food at the poolside restaurant was very good. The only negative of any kind on our stay was of the servers at the pool. The bartender was not the least friendly and the servers spent more time talking among themselves than checking on guests. We had to flag down a server to ask for a menu then finally went to the bar to get one ourselves. They should have been better managed and may need to learn from the friendly and efficient pool attendants. An overhead walkway to the beach was located off of the pool area as well, taking you over the busy highway.

The main restaurant, Shula's was wonderful and the waiters and bar tenders were great. The food was so good, we ate there twice.

The location was good and was only a short walk from many shops and restaurants as well as the famous Los Olas Blvd.
