“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2014

The Casa is in a great location, very quiet & in a pretty setting. The free parking was a bonus, especially as the hotel is relatively close to bars & restaurants, but more than 1 1/2 blocks from Las Olas, as stated on the hotels website. A healthy walk away.

We booked a 2-night stay after reading reviews & seeing the impressive website. Got lost due to inaccurate directions on website. It is not near the Ritz Carlton, but directly behind the W. By the time we finally found the street, it was dark & there was no illuminated sign. The contact 'phone number given on the booking confirmation was unavailable, which didn't help. However the reception staff were welcoming & helpful when we finally arrived.

Sadly our cosy room (no.13) was nothing like the clever website images. It was spotlessly clean & the bed was very comfortable, but it was not renovated as the website claims. We couldn't decide whether the wardrobe was bigger than the bathroom. There were old tiles inside the wardrobe where a previous kitchen unit had been. Wardrobe handle was missing & the other door was badly cracked. Paintwork was cracked & flaking. The "kitchen" unit was falling apart, with flimsy equipment, 2 nasty polystyrene cups, no plates or cutlery, however these were willingly provided by the helpful reception staff when we asked. The pool area was small with only 6 sun-loungers which was inadequate for the 16 room capacity

On the whole we were disappointed with our stay here, despite the friendly & helpful staff. Had the website not been so impressive, we would not have had such high expectations. It's a good place to use as a base for a few days but make sure you get a larger, renovated room. They looked really nice! Our stay could have been so different.

Hotel was nice but dated, no room telephones and only staffed during the day. Easy walk to the beach and restaurants. They did take reservations for just 2 night stay where some in the area had a min stay requirement.
Non-smoking rooms but a guest smoked cigars outside his room which could be smelled in our room.

Our recent stay was very satisfactory. Was upgraded to a lovely suite and enjoyed the experience. If you are looking for a sterile chain hotel experience, this is not the place for you. The property is nicely landscaped and the location is near the beach and great restaurants. There are several areas on the grounds to relax and unwind.
The rates are very reasonable and the staff is friendly. We will come again.

Room Tip: Spend a little more money for a suite.

Not usually inspired to write bad reviews-but buyer beware. While the staff is great and i believe trying to compensate for the property shortcomings-they cannot overcome one fact. This place is a moldy trap.I'm serious here-THE WINDOWS DON'T OPEN. They have them sealed shut and you HAVE to use the air conditioner. If you don't you will start smelling the smell of mold. Dank, damp growing stinky mold. I tried to just use the fan on the a/c cause the temp outside was perfect. But the vent in the a/c unit had mold in it and was blowing that into the room. I ended
up sleeping outside by the pool on a lounge chair. This place will make you sick unless you love
having the windows shut and the air conditioning on 24/7. If you like the a/c on then it prob will be acceptable to you.The actual bed was good. They need to come up with a better solution. Trapping guests in when the air outside is glorious is not a solution!!!

This is the third year in a row that we have stayed in this wonderful property and it gets better every year ,due to upgrades made in the rooms, fantastic location, beautifully landscaped property, one block from the beach, and location on a quiet street near all the luxury hotels and restaurants on A1A !Caring staff, free parking ,and reasonable winter season rates!

Room Tip: Look at the rooms on their website!

In room 5, mom and 17y daughter
the good:
Nice welcoming at reception while arrival, very clean room, good bed and linen, newly furnished and painted, nice and hot shower, pretty well maintained propriety.
The bad:
Windows does not open, very very noisy a/c who at least covered the noise of the a/c upstairs and the fridge....and fortunately almost the upstairs tenants coming in at 3 in the morning with no intention to go to sleep soon. We could hear neighbours talk on the phone in their room, peoples chatting and smoking under the porch at your door, so entertaining.
Except the room itself, very friendly smokers, astray everywhere outside. Doors difficults to lock and unlock making even more noise over that. Radio music around the little pool, so fu to read your book with traffic info and publicities at 4 pm.
Very bad wi-fi reception over 20 feet from office desk, almost none in the room.
Plastic disposable and styrofoam cup in the kitchenette and hasn’t been replace after been use on day 1, no hook to suspends your clothes and at least the wet towel after shower.

If the guy at the desk who was there when I left had stop his phone chatting, I could have tell him how not glad I was…. lost enough of my time and money already there, I left before he gave me some attention.

Had to change my reservation ( thanks God for that good idea) trough Hotel.com But the hotel didn't know about my nights cancelled and they've been payed…I’ve been there for 3 miserable nights, Casa del Mar has been paid for 7 nights, someone losing money!!

Stayed here with my friend Annie who had stayed here before so I didn't know what to expect since I usually and the traveler who does a lot of homework and research. It's very laid back and nice to be so close to the beach but without that Spring Breakers vibe and super drunk party crowd. The rooms are pretty simply adorned and the internet here is awesome :)

It's not super fancy or blingy so if that's what you are looking for, maybe look somewhere else. If you want a chill place to make your home base while you're in FLL though, this is a great spot. It includes a parking spot too so if you've got a rental car, it's nice to not have to valet every time you visit (like so many other hotels, etc.)
