My girlfriend and I stayed at La Casa del Mar for three nights, and were very happy with the place. We arrived Ft. Lauderdale without any reservation, but found this place through a guidebook. With little experience of "gay" places we asked if it were OK for us (straight couple) to stay there. That was absolutely no problem, and since it was a farily quiet week, we got a discount on the room as well! Great start!
Our room was nice, even though the cleaning could've been a bit better... we didn't particular like the left-over handcloth in the shower, but apart from that it looked just fine.
Location to the beach was brilliant! 300 m and you were there! Easy access to the nearby bars etc.
Breakfast was just fine as well - some bagles and orange juice which tasted good.

Best part was the friendliness of the staff, and the location.

A couple of weeks ago, we spent four nights at La Casa Del Mar, a lovely little B&B in Fort Lauderdale, 1/2 block from the beach. We stayed in the Fitzgerald Room (#7), and it was very clean, simply decorated, with a nice sexy feel. The owner, Ohad, and his staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. We booked the room partly because there was free wifi included. For some reason, we could not log on, so Ohad went completely out of his way, talking to the DSL company, until it was right.

As a lesbian couple, we were completely welcomed by Ohad and his staff, which is often not the case for women at gay resorts. Within the first five minutes, we were given a list of restaurants, clubs, etc. and of course, Sebastian Beach is a 2 minute walk from the hotel. Very convenient. The Mediterraneo Restaurant, which is part of the hotel, was not open when we were there, so check about that before you go.

Must-have brunch/lunch at Rosie's in Wilton Manors (quick drive) and dine at Tommy's at Las Olas, where the owner and bartender couldn't have been nicer. The food was very good, nice ambience and we were treated well.

However, stay away from 15th Street Fisheries (we reviewed it on the Fodor's message board, as well as here).

I was in room #7 with a kitchenette, Full kitchen and regular rooms available. The Owner and Staff were the Best that they could have ever Been. Especially The owner cares about your Stay. He hears everything that you have to say and, corrects it. If Humanly possible. If you want to stay in a setting that feels like home with a pool and garden setting. This is the place to Stay. This used to be a residence. No nudeity allowed other than your personal room. Your privacy is your and yours alone. The Morrocan Style restuarant is a perfect setting for intimate lunches. This is the place to make memories. Ask OHAD, Owner of the property and Restuarant Chef. He can point you in the right Direction for making memories. The owner was more like a brother toward the end. I am a giving person and shared my Tamales, My chocolet covered Strawberries, My Avacado salad and breakfast Tacos with the Owner and Staff. His visiting 85 years old aunt from California was as sweet as she could be. I gave her a box of Baklava I bought at Albertson's for her trip home. At the end, I gave the owner my 2 strings of heart Lights for the gazebo. Just something to remind him that there are good people left in this world. If your a taker forget it! Nothing in life is free.. It all about respecting ones property and Surrounding. I will stay there again and again. My personal feeling of this place. Thanks OHAD
P.S.Photos taken with camera phone.
P.S.S. I forgot to tell OHAD. Three times a few people thought that, I worked for the property.

What a wonderful guesthouse to stay at in Fort Lauderdale. I have stayed in many but this beats them all. The room we stayed in was just like the picture showed. The housekeeping was excellent and the front desk staff very attentive to all our needs. We had the pleasure of staying 10 day but we extended our stay 4 more. Even though they were fully booked they made it happen for us by going out of their way to get us a room. Dinner was great at their restaurant. Words cannot express how great it was. The ambiance was very romantic. The food was mediterranean which I have never tried and being that my girlfiend is a pickey eater I was worried but after the first bite we were hooked. Ohad is wonderful and very easy to talk to. After talking with him we felt as if we had been friends with him for years. If you are looking for a cozy, fun and very clean place with wonderful staff than this is your place. Just 1 block from the beach and within walking distance to it all!!!!

Before I write any of this, I want to make clear that I calmly voiced my problems to the management and they did NOTHING. I received not even one apology.

I stayed here with my partner for 2 nights, pre-cruise. And then again for 1 night post-cruise, we cancelled the 4th night.

I have NEVER had such a bad experience with a hotel in my life. I've had better stays at the Boatslip in Ptown....ew.

Night 1 & 2 - room 5?:
Room was sufficient size, with a small kitchenette. Cleanliness was average for a B&B. The bed was old and squeeked and sunk in the middle. The pillows were flat, the bedding was tired. As stated in previous reviews, the bathroom was a little akward, but manageable. The shower had merely a dribble of hot water. After coming back to the room after a little late-night libation at Alibi's....we saw a ROACH..
..and I mean a HUGE ROACH... I have seen roaches in NYC basements, I know what they look like. We smashed it, and had 2 nights of restless sleep. The next day I spoke with management very calmly and prefessionally. They said they would have the exterminator come. That's it!!??? No apology, no concern, no offers to change my room, no compensation, NOTHING.

Night 3 - room 8A:
Prior to arrival, we tried to cancel our 4th night due to flight changes, but since they have a 7-day cancelation policy, we were obligated to pay for it if they were not able to sell the room in the meantime...which they didn't. I understood, and I was optimistic. Maybe we'd get a better room this time, and maybe the ROACH was just a one-time thing. I'll get over it.

So we did get a different room, directly above the other room we stayed in. The room was almost identical except this time we had a king-size bed. This bed was just as old and saggy as the last one. And everything else sucked just as bad. In addition, the floor was dirty....I mean, dried drips of an unknown substance next to the bed....GROSS. Their were no tissues. The a\c did not produce cold air, which we did not notice until that night around 9pm...we tried to call and complain, but the front desk was of course closed. So we unplugged the stupid thing because we thought it was the right thing to do. And then, at about 3am, the entire front of the "duct-taped" a\c unit fell off onto the bed and scared us to death! [----] We packed up and checked out.

The next day I called and spoke to someone about how extremely unsatisfied my stay was. I STILL did not receive a mere apology. I was simply informed that the message would be passed on to the owner. I thought for sure that they would offer to at least compensate me the last night that I had to cancel....or maybe even a free dinner at the restaurant in the Hotel....nope, nothing. How very very sad. I like to contribute to the community by patronizing GLBT businesses and this is a first...to be treated so invisibly and without regard.

I can only interperate their non-responsiveness as explicit permission to write honest reviews about my La Casa Del Mar experience. I will also be spreading the word to all my other gay friends who frequent Ft. Liquordale. What a Dump!

One good point....it was close to the beach....
