Recently stayed at this hotel from a recommendation from friends. Only about a 12.00 taxi ride from FLL including tip. When you pull up to the valet, you are surrounded by a few Bentleys, a Ferrari, and later while going to the pool...a Rolls. It is situated directly on Las Olas, but enrty to Hotel is located in the rear area. Was greeted with smiles from valet and bell hop. Lots of yellows and tan hues engulf the area, with ornate tile work. Very clean, and impressive hotel. Check in was a breeze and professional. Lobby consists of aquariums in the round, hotel bar, concierge, etc...and I highly suggest Lindy. Wonderful person, and what an asset to this service. Was told to stay in the "tower" section by my referral, and we did. The elevator took us to the top(12th) floor, and as you exited it overlooked the river. Many many, yachts up and down this area. Went to the room, to freshen up to hit the restaurant. Rooms were in new shape, bedding was tremendous, as was the bath. Marble etc...Fully stocked bar, with at least 25 types of liquors and beers/sodas. The Grill room is one restaurant we ate in while here. Located in the hotel, but also can get outside seating. I suggest this...but call ahead. Very nice service and great food. Had rack of lamb, and fiance has Tuna topped with fois gras. With drinks total was under $200. Nice bar scene, great service, and great place to people watch. The adjacent restaurant(forget the name) in this hotel was wonderful in the mornings for people watching and breakfast. Limited menu, but most anything you would like. Linda K. was our server, and was outstanding. This hotel is smack in the main strip of the shopping mecca of Las Olas. No need for a taxi, as when night hits, this area transforms to shopping and be seen area. Noticed many people really trying too hard to impress, and this got tiresome after a while. But most people were enjoying themselves, with families, enjoying libations, outdoor eateries, and plenty of warm weather shopping. Went to a sushi restaurant located about 5 doors down from this hotel(name forgotten), and was very nice. Good edamame. Enjoyed a sushi(boat) and saki martini(or two) with my fiance. Also ate one night at Mancinis, outside. Very nice wine list and impeccable service. Not feeling rushed. Magnanimous fish presentation. Reminded me of the way fish is prepared at your table side in Rome or Venice. Educated servers, and attentive staff. Not cheap, but par for what you get. Back to the hotel...the pool area is located on the river. Only can get in with room key. An array of yachts will be moving past. The amount of yachts on the move reminded me of the quaility and size of the vessels in Portofino Italy. Massive, and impressive. The access to the pool which is of decent size is sometimes busy, I suggest be there before noon, or risk sunning in a straight chair and no lounge.Must admit however, was there over Easter week. The area is shaded partially with 6 to 7 tables seating 4, clean bathrooms, towels, but no attendants. Food, drinks available pool side by calling on a red phone located by the entry. A list of pool side menus items array from shrinp cocktail to Grilled chicken etc.. There is a soda machine there if you wish not to partake in pool side service for drinks. Mostly an adult feel, some children..and were well behaved. Stayed here most of the time, as this was a mini vacation to our prelude to Rome/Venice in June. Getting to the airport was a breeze, no problems. I would highly recommend this hotel. It is a good value, and the accomodations were just as expected. The Ritz it is not, but it would be close to a warm , friendly feeling of lets say....a nice smaller Westin, or any 4 star hotel. Would for sure return, as it was a very pleasant stay.
