We stayed at the Riverside for one night before leaving on a cruise. The hotel is very coveniently located near the Fort Lauderdale airport and the cruise port. the hotel is very nice, great restaurant, friendly staff and well kept with the exception of the old part of the hotel. We booked the hotel four months in advance and requested a renovated king room. We also asked for an early check-in which they couldn't gaurantee. We arrived early, the hotel was fully booked,so there were no rooms ready yet. We were told to check back in a couple of hours. After waiting approximately 3 1/2 hours( later than the check-in time promised) we were given a king room in the old part of the hotel. This room smelled musty and of mildew. It had a canopy over the bed that was full of dust. The room was small, dark, dirty, just horrible. We called the front desk to change rooms but there was nothing available.Instead they sent housekeeping up to spray the room with febreeze!!! The room was not worth the money we paid. If going to the Riverside make sure you stay in the newer part of the hotel or don't stay there at all!

My partner and I absolutely loved this hotel! We unfortunately only stayed there one night before our cruise and thought it was excellent! We had a king size bed and our room was huge with a balcony facing the city. We wished that we could have stayed longer! This hotel was better than most of the 4* hotels (and in some cases 5*!) that we have stayed at before. The location was really good, although its about a 35 minute walk to the beach ($16 cab ride) so it depends on what you are going for. I would definitely stay there again in a heart beat!

I've read the previous reviews and all I can say is we saw only the GOOD side - our Tower room was very spacious and comfortable, the staff was quite friendly, and the Las Olas atmosphere put us right in a holiday mood before our cruise.

We stayed at the Riverside on 2 occasions. We stayed 2 days prior to a cruise and 2 days after our cruise.

We booked our room based on the information on the hotels website. We booked a tower room.

When we arrived via taxi we were so happy we had chosen this hotel. It is right on Las Olas Blvd, with shops and restaurants all around. We were immediatly welcomed by the bell captain and our bags taken. We headed for the check in desk. Within minutes we were heading to our
room on the 11th floor. Our room was over looking the river and down Las Olas blvd.

The room is large, we had a king bed. It has a chair and a table with 2 chairs. A balcony with a table and chairs also. The bathroom is huge! And very well appointed. I love the soap they had.

Our luggage arrived and the bell-man got us ice and told us about the room and hotel.

The bed is luscious. The pillows so many and comfortable. We decided, after 1 day to make a reservation for our 2 days after our cruise because we loved the area and hotel so much.

We ate breakfast each morning at the hotel out on the side walk, people watching. The prices are very reasonable and the food and service perfect.

We ate at many of the restaurants in the area, with the next one being
better than the one before.

We rode the water taxi, which is a short walk to the loading area. We
swam in the hotels pool, which is right next to the river and such a pretty setting.

We did find that the bathrooms hadn't been cleaned in a while, so we informed the front desk. From that point on, they were spotless.

As you can see, we loved it here. We will stay again.

The hotel was being decorated for Christmas and ended up being spectacular!

With 2 fire places and many sitting areas, you just want to spend your
time there.

The hotel also offers business service. Meaning they have computers and printers to use. Which comes in handy when you want to print out your boarding passes.

I can't say enough good about the hotel. I checked with expedia for prices. Expedia was cheaper, I called the front desk and they came very close to matching it and could confirm the room we wanted. Very very accomodating.

Don't be afraid to stay here. Pricey, but well well worth it.

This is by far the best hotel we've stayed at in the Ft. Lauderdale area. We booked on Hotels.com at a rate of approx. $200 CDN/night which was a steal during the Christmas holidays. We stayed in the executive tower and the rooms was very clean, the beds were very comfortable and the pool area was clean and quiet.

If you don't really care about not being on the beach, this is the perfect hotel to stay at. Plenty of restaurants and shops on Las Olas -- all withing walking distance. Really enjoyed dinner at The Cheesecake Factory which is next door to the hotel and wonderful crepes at the french restaurant across the street .

I won't even consider staying anywhere else in the future. The Riverside was perfect for two pre-cruise nights in Ft. Lauderdale.
