The Museum of Discovery and Science and IMAX Theater is a fantastic place for the whole family. We first explored the first floor with all of the animals like bats, fish, alligators, and snakes. Then we went into the discovery center where littloe kids play in there own safe zone area. After we went into the IMAX Theater and saw Deep Sea 3D, it was amazing seeing it on the 5 story high screen as well as it being in 3D. After that, we saw the second floor, we went on the Mars motion ride, the aviation simulators, virtual vollyball, and the mars exhibets. Also, they had a reptile demonstration that talked about alligators, snakes, and turtles. This was my families favorite part of the day. My overall experience was that I highly reconmend this museum very highly to anyone who is interested in science, animals, or who just wants to have a good time!!!

This is such an interesting place to go! It is an aquarium and a hands-on science museum in ONE! I went here while in FL on Spring Break on my 21st birthday (no joke)! We spent hours there and it was worth every penny! Whether you're 14 or 40 I bet you will love this place!

Nice museum but be warned!!! They recharged my credit card again 6 weeks after my visit, were very rude when I called to find out what was going on, and claim they are still trying to work out the problem!!!

“Chaotic, dirty, and worn”

On a recent weekday trip to the Museum of Discovery and Science, we found the place overflowing with dozens of groups of day campers on field trips. It was incredibly loud and chaotic; the audio on most exhibits could not be heard above the din. The museum does have some interesting and informative hands-on educational exhibits; without exception, however, they were dirty, worn, and/or broken. The kids have been rough on this place. It needs some serious refurbishing. The IMAX theatre, however, was excellent. We are from St. Louis, and could not help comparing it (very unfavorably) with the much larger, nicer St. Louis Science Center. Admission and parking were very expensive. The only food available is a small Subway with a limited menu and bad service. Overall, not a good value for the dollar, and your time in Ft. Lauderdale is much better spent elsewhere. Save it for a rainy day when you can't think of anything else to do with the kids.

Visited the museum without children on a Friday morning. Expected there to be children's groups, but hoped it would be lighter than coming on a weekend. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a very busy day at the museum.

We enjoyed the ground floor exhibits of fish aquariums, turtles and baby alligators. The staff wandering around the exhibits were very friendly and nice, but did not seem to be experts on the exhibits. We asked what we thought were simple questions but they didn't know, apologizing profusely.

We headed upstairs, hoping to try out the interactive exhibits upstairs (a ride in the Mars Rover, and one where you sit in a chair and simulate being an astronaut working on repairs in space). Can't tell you too much about them. The Mars Rover exhibit had perhaps 100 children from a school in line ahead of us. The repairs in space (not sure what it's called), was closed, with a sign saying that it was not available to school groups and the next opening was scheduled at (blank, this section was not filled in). The only staffer I could find on the floor was working on the Mars Rover and had her hands full, so I just left it alone. There was another part of the space exhibit, but it was closed off, with repair folks working in there. There was a very small section on dinosaurs, but it was very, very small - really, just an alcove, with about 8 cases. We had expected to spend at least 1.5 hours in the museum while waiting for our IMAX movie, but ended up heading outside to kill time and escape all the happy shrieking in the museum.

The IMAX movie about the Apollo missions to the moon, Magnificent Desolation, was wonderful. The staff handed out 3-D glasses to us, and we enjoyed the movie, along with about 200 students. This movie is definitely worth seeing - gave us a look at the moon, so that we could almost imagine being there.
