Stayed a night in the BW Gateway to the Keys on our way down to Florida Keys. The hotel is ideally located if you arrive at Miami Airport, as we did and want to get out of Miami City. The hotel on highway 1, close to a few restaurants and shops (Appeared to be a quiet, safe area) . Staff very friendly.
Nice big rooms, very clean. The hotel has a good swimming pool and the complimentary breakfast was great.
No complaints would stay there again.

The Travelodge didn't have the crib/cot we requested so we were forced to hunt about for alternative accommadation. The Hampton Inn didn't have any cribs either but pointed us to the Best Western. This is a good motel style hotel with extremely helpful and friendly staff, a pleasent poolside enclosed area (away from Route 1) and great location, close to Keys and Everglades as well as a tasty fish restaurant virtually on site and Rosita's Mexican round the corner on Palm Avenue/Drive.

Although the tarif wasn't cheap like the $70 per night Travelodge ($146/night for a pool view inc. breakfast) we had a really enjoyable stay withg our 18-month old son at the end of a hectic tour around Southern Florida.

    • Liked — Location, staff and enclosed pool area
    • Disliked — MOre pricey than some nearby motels

We (mum, dad, 3 kids - 14, 11 and 6) stayed here for one night over Spring Break. We had originally booked at the Hampton Inn in Florida City, but they had no roll away beds left, so we had to search for somewhere else at the last minute.
We chose the Best Western as it looked new and fresh (turned out it has just been painted that day).

The room was nothing special and quite expensive ($150), but at least we could get all 5 of us into one room.

Breakfast was typically high carb, high fat, low protein, but we were able to get seating for 5. The best thing about the hotel was the pool/ courtyard area, which had plenty of space for sitting/lounging/working, with shaded areas and the pool was open until very late in the evening.

The Everglades Alligator Farm ( highly recommended) is less than 15 minutes drive away.

    • Liked — Pool area; convenience for Everglades
    • Disliked — Mediocre room decor

We stayed here for 1 night before a trip to the Keys. It is a pretty basic motel. The rooms were average. The bed was comfortable. The pool area was pretty with nice landscape. The hot tub was broken and that was too bad as the pool was cold. The staff was just so-so. No one goes out of their way to be nice. They just do their job with little enthusiasm. The check in girl was busy talking on the phone to someone about her dinner instead of giving her full attention to me. The breakfast was fine but at the exact minute it is over the food is whisked away and they will not let you even continue if you were already in the dining room. That included the juice. Just not a very friendly place. OK to sleep over but don't expect great service.

We stayed at this property for 3 nights with two small children. Friends of ours, a couple, stayed in an adjoining room one of those nights. Our room was pretty basic, 2 double beds, a small table with 2 chairs, fridge and microwave, dresser with TV.

This property is a motel, with all external doors (no interior hallways connecting rooms). For $4 more, we got a courtyard-facing room. I recommend one of these rooms facing the pool for quiet, since about half of the exterior-facing rooms pick up a lot of noise from the highway and neighboring businesses (including the seafood restaurant/bar next door).

The room needs updating, especially the carpets. Both rooms had a lingering musty smell which was unpleasant. The inside of the dresser smelled very bad and I wouldn't use it.

The pool area is very nice, clean, well landscaped. I was comfortable going into the pool and hot tub and reading a book in a lounger with my family and alone. The staff at the front desk were very friendly.

The breakfast options were not too exciting - cold cereal, some fresh fruit, bagels which were more like rolls, toast, yogurt, and microwavable sausage/egg/cheese muffins. There is also a small laundry area with 2 washers and 2 dryers - the front desk has change and sells detergent and dryer sheets for $1.

The hotel is right off of Route 1 and it is a very developed area with tons of stores, restaurants, 24-hour Wal-Mart, supermarkets and fast food places. An outlet mall just down the street. The restaurant next door is a very popular seafood place - was always packed, lots of bar patrons at night, looked like fun.

There are lots of motels in the area, but they looked older, run down, not in the best areas. There is a newer Holiday Inn Express down the road that looked decent, too.

    • Liked — Pool area was nice; very convenient to lots of stores, fast food, highways
    • Disliked — Rooms and dressers were very musty - needs updating.
