4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2014 via mobile

Stayed for 2 nights while visiting the Everglades. Comfortable room with a refrigerator and microwave. Bed was comfy, Tv worked well as did the WiFi. The breakfast was also good, better than some other Best Westerns I have stayed at. I would return with out reservations.

We stayed at the BW in Florida City because of its proximity to the entrance to Everglades National Park. The hotel was clean and the staff were courteous. The breakfast was average. The location was very convenient for our visit.

If you want working showers, don't go here. When I went to the desk before we checked out they did not offer a working shower in a vacant room. The Manager was also not available & has not returned my calls to date. .

I really apologize for your issues with the shower during your stay. The morning of your unfortunate issue, we had no rooms available and could not get you into another room until it was cleaned. The maintenance staff was also not present at that time to fix your issue that early in the morning. Please contact me at gatewaybw@aol.com so I can discuss this further with you. I would really like to get in contact with you and will send you a private message as well. We take all complaints seriously and do care about the concerns of our guests. I really do hope you had a chance to enjoy the rest of your stay besides this unfortunate event and that I can get in contact with you to resolve this immediately.

We specifically look for Best Western when set up trips because the basic needs of a clean place with acceptable amenities will be available. This hotel met the basic needs, but not much more. It was clean. Beds were on the hard and lumpy side. Breakfast was the "same old" scrambled eggs and almost cooked bacon every day. Management needs to work on attitudes all the way around and get the convenience issues straight. Not having rooms ready on time is not acceptable. Housekeeping staff were the most pleasant and did an excellent job. We would look for other hotels first if we were going there again.

Room Tip: Get a room on the inner court around the pool if road noise bothers you.

I am really sorry that we did not meet your standards at the Best Western. We strive hard to attempt to exceed the expectations of our guests. I am sorry that you found our breakfast not satisfactory. We serve a free hot breakfast that consists of two types of eggs, bacon, two types of waffles, cinnamon rolls, bagels, breads, cereals, muffins, fresh fruit and more. I apologize that your room was not ready and will most certainly look into the matter. I also appreciate you taking the time to leave a tip for our future guests. The pool side rooms are located around a large tropical courtyard that over looks the pool area. We have the largest pool area and only hot tub in town. I assure you we are one of the best hotels in the area and we offer the most amenities at a great price. For any future reservations please call directly at 305-246-5100. I really recommend booking directly with us for no hassle cancellations/modifications and the best rates.

First night - Toilet would not stop flushing, had to move to another room. Second night - following morning, awakened to water dripping from the ceiling - staff were very slow to respond. Problems with toilet overflowing in room above. We got out PDQ, never to return

2 floors, no elevator. Comfortable bed. Clean. Large and roomy. Well decorated in a sunny bright décor for Fla. Staff was friendly and helpful. 32" TV on wall and internet service. Breakfast was a bit lacking with no fruit. Selection of other food was limited but it was enough to get you started for your morning.

We've been here two years in a row to launch expeditions to Everglades...both south to Flamingo for canoeing and west along Tamiami Hwy. Breakfast is the best by the pool. After a long day in the wilds, a late evening drink in the hot tub (I know...but you only go around once) and a dip in the pool is so special. It's like an oasis in the middle of nearby hubbub, quiet, respectful and reasonable. Very clean and very nice folks. They also have a small laundry facility. Don't be afraid to travel one exit back up 821 to get to some really nice eating.

Room Tip: Pool side is nice, also 2nd floor
