“Lots of Great Trees”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

We stayed two nights at this RV Resort on our way home from the Atlanta Good Sams Rally. While the park is situated conveniently close to I-95, it's set back quite a ways so none of the interstate noise is apparent. They have lots of sites, but some are occupied by long term units and park models. They also have cabins for rent. The best part of the park, for us, were the huge oak and sycamore trees, the former draped prolifically with Spanish Moss. Check in was handled very efficiently at the registration desk located in a small camp store. The resort provides free cable TV, but WiFi is an additional charge. All the sites I could see were grass with a concrete Patio. Hookups were conveniently grouped and functional. The park was not cheap, but we would probably stop there again if we were in the area.

This is our second visit to Bulow and the first was very nice; thus our decision to return. The good: large lots, nice area to ride bikes, people are friendly, there seems to be several activities at the "corral'.
The bad; fire ants all over the place. When we mentioned them to the desk, they came and put pellets on the hill by the water and electric and ignored other obvious hills around the lot. I guess you have to draw a map and show them where the hills are located. No excuse for fire ant hills on the actual sites.
We do not use the pool, which looked nice, or the toilets an showers as we are self contained. so, we can't evaluate the, ]
I expect much more from an Encore RV Resort. really too bad as this is a wonderful location and basic resource to build upon. We will not return, but want to make it clear the people are nice.

We have stayed at many Encore parks, Bulow is not what we expected from Encore. However, it was a decent campground, the bathroom by the activity center and bar was new and clean. We didn't spend much time in the campground, we were in the area for a job.

We do not like side by side hook ups and Bulow has a lot of them. We were originally assigned a site with the hookups on the wrong side and under trees. We asked if we could move to the next site and were able to. The office staff was wonderful, they were very helpful and friendly, we even ended up saving money. We had some trouble with our tow vehicle and had to extend our stay day by day, the office staff was very understanding and we had no problems staying.

They are working on fixing up the campground, it will be a while.

We would definitely stay there again.

OK, so we are not the smartest campers in the world... Went back to Bulow with friends again over Labor Day.

The Good: They finially tore down the eyesore, the old condemend KOA building with the blue tarp roof.

The Bad: They haven't spent a penny on anything else. Maintenance on the bathrooms, sucks! Bar was very active this weekend, some drunks tried to get in the womens bathroom while our young daughters were taking showers. Why were our daughters showering at the "activitity room" bathouse you might ask? Because it's the only one that have been refurbed, all the others are plain crap! Never did like the idea of the Bar on the property, not really a family campground.......

The more Bad: After tearing down the old condemed building, the only bathrooms around the pool area are now gone, BUT they do have 2 portapotties...... ever been in a portapottie, in Florida?, in August?

Oh well, can't say we didn't know ahead of time. If you do decide to go, watch out for the drunks and bring some nose plugs.

This would be a nice campground if it had better management. My family and I stayed for a week. Never paid so much for such terrible accommodations. Bathhouse by our site had the same wad of hair on the wall in a shower stall the whole time we were there, even though you would see employees supposedly cleaning them daily. Showers have no water pressure and toilets barely flush. Had to furnish our own toilet paper nearly the entire week. Bar is full of permanent residents that sit around and talk about each other (basically a drag). Couldn't hear the entertainment due to the loudness and rudeness of people participating in the pool tournament that was going on at the same time. Permanent residents drive by your site on golf carts and stare you down because they have nothing better to do except be nosy. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you enjoy your privacy. They ask personal questions that really is none of their business. Also you must pay a resort fee for something that's far from a resort. Very rude people. Go to a different campground because this one needs help!

We have visited Bulow twice in two years. We camped with some friends who go there because of the large spots and openness. We all have lots of kids and they have a ball. On our last trip we had hoped that some of the not so nice features were repaired. On our first trip the roof of the main building had the remenents of "blue tarp" from the hurricans in 2005, well the remenents were now mere threads. No repairs on the roof had be performed and the building was still unused and in disrepair. On our first trip the bath house at the end of the main camping area... you know the area that doesn't have sewer and could really use a good bath house was terrible. It has needed updating for years, and was still in need of updating even more on this trip. With all the campers and cabins at that far end a remodeled bathouse is definetly in order. We got a buy one get one special and our Memorial 3 day weekend was under $90, at that price Bulow is OK, just OK. Hey Management, Bulow could be a 5 star resort with a little work, but it doesn't look like they have put a penny in it in several years. Still I love the openness of the campground, the large oaks, and the area. I go again next year, with our friends, but I wouldn't go just to go......

Room Tip: Get sewer and don't depend on the bath houses....

Sewer hook-ups wrong side of RV. Cable hook-up 100 feet from RV. Showers were way out of date--peeling paint, chipped and rusted sinks. Luckily we were only staying one night.
Encore should check this park out. Our experience with their other parks has been good.
