My husband and I ate here 2 nights ago while staying at Amelia Island. Do not miss this experience! We are restaurant owners and are usually disappointed....not here! Casual yet upscale, not stuffy, and DELICIOUS. We had the fried green tomato app, which was cleverly stuffed with goat cheese and had a chunky tomato topping. We had an excellent salad with grilled portabella, Maytag blue cheese, and beets, and for my entree I had perfectly seared Diver Scallops with Soba noodles and Asian veggies in a Miso butter which was fabulous. My husband was very pleased with his local chicken. I only wish we had saved room for dessert......Our server Megan was helpful, knew her wines and menu, and was very accommodating with our 2 year old son. We can't wait to eat here again!

29 South is located in an unremarkable old home off the main street, but WOW, it packs a punch in quality and service.

The restaurant itself is small inside, but there are also tables on a porch and patio, weather permitting.

Servers are friendly and knowledgeable without being overbearing. The menu is eclectic.The menu doesn't attmept to offer huge choice. They offer fewer entree items and do them well.

On our most recent visit we shared a grilled romaine salad with nuts and gorgonzola cheese, a risotto with diver scallops, a dinner salad with shrimp, sausage, fresh corn, potatoes and a creamy jalapeno dressing.

All were delicious and beautifully presented. For dessert we shared a signature 'coffee and donuts' which is actually a warm bread pudding/donut concoction served in a large coffee mug with mocha ice cream on top.....yummy.

This is one of the top 5 restuarants in the downtown core.

My wife and I walked here from our hotel. The meal was very good, I had the sea scallops which were very good. My wife had the flounder with crabmeat stuffing which was equally as good. On our next trip, we'll probably eat here first.

My husband and I ate at 29 South last night and we had one of the best meals of our lives! I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the country and I was pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant of this caliber in such a small town. Our waiter told us about their farming program, and we could really taste the freshness of local ingredients in our food. The wine list is adventurous, and our server made a couple of suggestions and let us taste them before we made our final choice. We would recommend this restaurant to any foodie!
