“Great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

The motel was small, but neat. We enjoyed our stay. It was a little outdated in the bathroom, but clean. The room was cozy. The carpet was clean and up to date. I have problems staying at a motel that has old and dirty carpet.

Room Tip: Some of the hotel was beachfront, mostly oceanview

We searched around looking for a ocean front hotel but without all the fanfare and EXPENSE. Beachside looked good on paper and was great in person. Lovely lady at reception, very nice and clean room with update big screen, fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Desk for our laptop, and two nice beds. It's not the Ritz down the street but has a great pool and wonderful ocean front.

About half way between Old Town and the Plantation - perfect location with great parking.

It's a new home away from home

Room Tip: There are a few rooms that face the beach but we had Room 22. Ground floor too.

Great accommodations! Stayed Friday & Saturday night in beginning of October...2nd floor. Pleasantly surprised at the updated decor and the cleanliness of the entire facility! You never know what to expect in older properties. Would not hesitate to stay again! Very helpful and pleasant staff! Thanks for a great weekend!

I was pleasantly surprised and very pleased. The motel is small and older but our room was clean, fresh and recently updated. The refrigerator in the room allowed us to visit a nearby Publix and stock up with snacks, drinks and breakfast items. All of the motel staff were very nice and helpful. Our room was on the second floor so we were able to see the ocean while sitting outside our room even though we were not on the beach facing end. (The second floor rooms have chairs outside to sit on - a great bonus) There is a nice sized pool that was clean. The beach is just a quick walk over the dune - it was nice, clean and uncrowded during the time we were there. There is a restaurant across the street that is great for lunch or dinner. The motel is also not far from the historic district - lots of shops and restaurants available. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay. This is not a resort - it's a motel and it was great. We will be back next.

Room Tip: Second floor gives you a beach/ocean view. There are two end rooms that face the beach.

A good 2 star motel at a good price. Stayed Tuesday and Wednesday nights in mid-August. Basic amenities, clean, recently remodeled, and quiet. Refrigerator in room was a plus. Only issue was that the pillows were flat (but there were about ten of them). There was no door between bedroom and sink. Quick walk to the beach: from door, around the corner of the pool, onto the boardwalk and over the dune. Beach was clean, wide, and uncrowded. (Etiquette alert: Even though beach was empty at least 600 yards to my right, some guy plopped his wife and kids down five FEET from my left. Still would have been okay but he loved the sound of his own voice! Dude! It's courteous to leave space around others when there's so much space available!) Note that local schools began Fall session the day before we arrived; that may have been why beach was so empty. Had to drive to get to restaurant row and the historic section of the island. Overall: we would go back and we recommend this motel.

Room Tip: Pay more to get an end room on the second floor facing the ocean. Pool is at the ocean side of the...

We have always wanted to stay right on the beach at Fernandina and there are not that many options. The Beachside Motel was perfect for our family's weekend getaway. The rooms were nicely renovated and clean and we certainly would love to stay again in the future. We felt safe and secure, too.

The rooms were big enough for a family of four, two adults and two adult-sized teens. There is a restaurant and a convenience store right across the road. The pool is a nice size and with minimum effort, you are able to be at the beach.

Even though we were on the first floor, we still could see the water and since the parking is right outside the door, it made it easy for unloading and loading luggage. This is not a fancy pants place, but the simplicity of this motel is what makes it so nice and inviting.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice quiet place during the week, weekenders we a little loud and up all night. Not crowded. Nice clean pool and easy beach access. Rooms were clean and up to date. Only complaint was shower curtain was molded at the bottom.

Room Tip: For "beach view" room ask for 2nd floor room on beach end.
