We decided to try Brett's after a very dissappointing experience at the Marina Restaurant. The service was wonderful. The food was delicious and much more reasonably priced than at the Marina! We enjoyed the atmosphere. You can see the water from every seat in the restaurant. We loved it and will go again when we get back to that part of the country.
We left the plantation on a recommendation to eat here, and came back again a second time it was so good. I had the filet and hubby had the grouper. Both out of this world. Gotta have the macadamian nut torte or the creme brulee. you won't be disappointed. Service was excellent. It's worth your trip and you'll be glad you did.
We visited Brett's last week, just in time to enjoy their latest dinner menu. This one is a winner!! The first night was so good, we went back on our last night as well. The grilled Asian shrimp was out of this world. The NY strip was succulunt and plenty for two. Amelia Island is a resort. Prices are high (period). Plan on spending some bucks here but you will not be dissapointed.
We drove 2 1/2 hours and had specific reservations to observe my deceased mother's birthday, as this restaurant was very special to my family. Upon arriving on time, we were informed there would be at least a 45 minute wait and just because we had a reservation, that did not guarantee our table.(??) I was further informed there were 7 parties ahead of us to be seated and the restaurant was full. I explained the reason for our visit and asked if we could eat basically in a corner in the lounge facing a wall. (We were only a party of two; myself and my son.) We were told we could not order off the dinner menu and could only have bar snacks. I then asked to speak to the manager and was informed that was exactly who I was speaking with! Needless to say, I left the restaurant in tears and we left the island a day early. This "restaurant" has left a negative
impression on a town that has meant so much to me for years. I am sure they will continue to do great business due to the location, but hopefully owner Brett Carter will work on not ruining people's memories and vacations.
As other reviewers have said, Brett's is expensive but you're paying for the view. We opted to sit at the bar in the afternoon and watch the activity on the docks. The Margarita's were $8.50 but at least they were good. We also ordered an appetizer. Fried Calamari which was $9.00. It was a very large portion (enough for two) and it was excellent. Not one chewy morsel!
