“Sunset view is great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

Everyone at the Ritz recommended we start our evening here on the second floor with a cocktail overlooking the sunset. It was indeed a great spot from which to view the sun and the water traffic. We found good seats with luck even though it was busy and the service was fast. We just had wine, but it was good and well-priced.
We were told by many people that their calamari is really good.
It was a friendly bustling place when we were there and we struck up many conversations with others around us. Fernandina Beach is that kind of place.

“Great Restuarant / Bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

The Salty Pelican is clearly one of the best places ti visit in the area. Located by the Amelia River, the views from the second floor are not to be missed. Their food and drinks are amoung the best my wife and I found in town. The staff was friendly and made you feel welcomed. We were in the area for several days and always came back for more!!!

“Great food and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

The Salty Pelican is a seafood restaurant that overlooks the Amelia River. They have an upper deck that people flock to especially to watch the sunset. This restaurant is the last stop on the Amelia Island's Museum of History's Pub Crawl which is held every Thursday from 5:30-7:30. The shrimp/corn/potato soup is a must to order. The $4 cup is more than enough as an appetizer. I ordered the dozen fried oysters for $11 and they were delicious. My husband ordered the Po boy oyster sandwich with the spicy coleslaw for $11. Yes, the coleslaw was very spicy. The $6 margarita was delicious. I saw a full plate of sweet potato fries go by for $4. So glad I didn't order the fries because it was a large portion. The service was very attentive. I would highly recommend this restaurant!!!

“Mediocre”

Pricey. The drinks from the bar were sub-par. The food was pretty good, but nothing to write home about.

“Very nice all around - Fun place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

We have been to the Salty Pelican three times over the past 5 days. Twice we sat upstairs outside and once downstairs (the chairs are very low relative to the table so we "doubled up" and it worked out just fine). The staff is very professional and friendly. The oyster po’ boy was excellent as was the shrimp-corn chowder. Tuesday’s special is 10 wings for $5 with three sauces. All three were very good! The baked oyster trio (six for $9) is a good way to sample the options – we liked the bacon with blue cheese the best. We also enjoyed the steak tacos. The bloody Mary with a raw oyster was outstanding! We would like to see the local brew called Jon Boat on tap too. This has become our new favorite lunch stop. The atmosphere is “Key West-like” and the view in the late afternoon cannot be beat anywhere on the island. So, drive to Bretts Waterway restaurant, park there and walk across the tracks to the Salty Pelican.
