“Our Wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2011

My wife Jill and I were married at the Florida House Inn on May 7th this year (2011). Emily and Marshall were incredibly easy to work with and they accomodated in every way we asked.

As far as the venue, we could not have asked for a more intimate and beautiful setting in the courtyard. We had our guests arrive about 30 to 45 minutes before the ceremony started where everyone had cocktails on the back porch (please note they have beer wine and liquor which is not easy in Nassau County).

We had our reception at Cafe Karibo (which is a must eat on the Island) then some of us came back to the Inn for a quiet little after party which once again Marshall and Emily were gracious enough to allow us to do, with no prior notice.

If you're looking for a historic place to stay and or get married, the Florida House Inn is the place hands down.

Both my wife and I live on Amelia Island and took our time doing our homework and selected the Florida House in because weknew it would be the best location for our wedding.

We live in Key West, FL and when we are at the Florida House Inn it feels a lot like home. We stayed here over 15 years ago, love the improvements now will make it a regular stop. The friendly and gracious Inn Keepers Emily and Marshall made our stay a delight. They were there to help us with anything we needed, A very convent location just park your car and walk anywhere

We have stayed twice at The Florida house Inn and will be making more visits. It is a large and lovely old (1857) house located in the old town area of Fernandina, Florida. The location is great. We parked our car in the Inn's roomy parking lot behind the house and did not use the car again until we departed because we where able to walk everywhere due to the Inn being so well located. Courtyard style backyard with large old oaks and plenty of greenery with a fountain featuring a large and beautiful bronze mermaid statue. Plenty of space on the porch, back deck, indoor bar, dining room and outdoor bar to hang out yet they all have a cozy feel. Our host Marshall and Emily where very warm and social. We found them to be helpful and cheerful. The room was comfortable, clean and charming with a tastefully updated bathroom. Plenty to do and all within walking distance. Mai the resident canine is a sweet natured wonderful dog.

we rented out the courtyard area for our wedding reception this past may. i live in north carolina so it was hard making all plans long distance, but emily's communication skills made it really easy for me to make arrangements. the party went off without a hitch. place was beautiful and her soon-to-be-hubby, patrick, was behind the bar all night making sure everyone was having a great time. made sure we got our moneys worth down to the last drop! ;)
party ended at a decent time so that other guests could go to sleep. it was so convenient to other bars and restaurants to that the celebration could continue to those that weren't ready for bed! the hubs and i headed upstairs to our room to sleep it off! EASY !!

would definitely plan another party with this couple and venue again!

My wife and I held a meet and greet at this hotel prior to our wedding. We also stayed for 2 nights at the hotel following the wedding. The family that runs the Hotel (Marshall and Emily) did an amazing job hosting 70 of my friends and family. There is a very cool little bar inside the hotel where you can hear stories of the history of the building. Rooms were immaculate.

If you're looking for a on the beach stay complete with generic housekeepers and continental breakfast. This isn't your place.

If your looking to be near all the action and see historic Amelia Island and feel like a local. This is the place!

I have stayed at several B&B's in Fernandina, and this one was my favorite! Marshall and his fiance were extremely friendly and accomodating. We felt immediatley at home upon check in and had a great stay. We were able to check in early on a Saturday afternoon, sipped wine on the second floor balcony and had a great evening. We stayed in one of the corner rooms in the back of the house overlooking the courtyard and the bar/pub next door. We opened up the windows to enjoy a beautiful breeze (this was April 4th) and the buzz of the nightlife nearby. Overall a great place at a very reasonable price. Will definately be returning soon!!

If you've been wanting to get away, yet feel right at home, you'll want to check out the newly rennovated Florida House Inn. Its in the heart of Fernandina Beach- in the historic old downtown, within walking distance to everything! Restaurants, shops. bars, art galleries, the docks, sunset cruises, churches, and more. And if you just want to stay put- you can sit under a gigantic old oak tree in the brick paved courtyard of the Inn and have refreshments and relax. Emily and Marshall are the new Innkeepers and are on hand to personally see to it that you have a great time. In June, 2011, the Inn will re-launch their family style meals - with a new gourmet chef. The room we had was lovely - had a completely new bath- including a large walk-in shower, plus the balcony was just outside our door- providing yet another venue for relaxing and people watching. Be sure to go by this historic inn when in the area. Its Floridas' oldest operating hotel - have a drink in the Mermaid bar while you decide how long you want to stay!
