“Amazing!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

We both had sandwiches at Lulu's and they were amazing. My husband had the crab cake sandwich and I had the portabello which was delicious. The atmosphere with the outdoor seating was nice, and there was a kid's menu available which is always important when you have a picky two year old!

“Artsy and Unique Dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

Lulu's is quite the unique little artsy spot to dine. It was recommended by an island local. When you arrive at Lulu's, you will probably be surprised. Lulu's is adjacent to the historic Thompson house, and dining is outside in the garden or inside. We opted for outside, it was a beautiful night in Fernandina Beach. We were seated in one of the garden areas surrounded by native plants and lights. The wine list offered a distinctive selection and the chef's menu features what I would call eclectic flair. Even the classic dishes offer a unique touch from the chef. From the crab cake sandwich (nearly all crab) with its Cajun potato salad, to the Cuban sandwich with its spicy twist, to the Shrimp and Grits and shrimp tacos with salsa crema and red beans and rice - there was nothing disappointing! Everything was mouth-wateringly tasty. (and by the way, the shrimp is locally fresh caught right off the island!) Our waitress was full of southern hospitality and made us feel like locals and friends during our meal. The chef (owner?) came out and greeted us while we dined, asking if we were pleased - we were! I noted that he went round to each table of diners to do the same

“Great recommendation from a local”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013 via mobile

An Amelia Island shop owner suggested the four of us try Lulu's. So glad we did! We ate in a garden atmosphere. Our waitress was great, even though she was super busy. The owner stopped by our table to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Our two starters were a salad special and the calamari- very lightly fried with a yummy sauce. Both were large enough to share. For dinner, we had mussels, salmon, tuna, and scallops- all very flavorful and not too heavy. Interesting wine list. We will be back on the island in October and will return to Lulu's.

“If you like fried food.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

Our family of 4 tried Lulu' s strictly on the reviews on trip advisor. We were expectling a great meal but instead had an average meal for $140.00. My husband tried the shrimp and grits. It was in a heavy sauce that over powered the shrimp. My daughter and I had the grouper which was deep fried. I had it with hollandaise sauce and she with the crayfish étouffée sauce. Her fish was in a puddle of grease. We made the mistake of not asking how the fish was prepared and found them too heavy. My other daughter had the fish tacos which were ok. Our biggest surprise was the caprese salad. The mozzarella was deep fried too. Again just too heavy.
Nothing special about the service. If you like fried heavy food this is the place for you.
