“Our best beach trip in over 25 years!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2009

We spent five nights in Room 3 of Addison on Amelia’s historical B&B and my husband said it our best beach trip in over 25 years! We loved the bright room’s high ceilings and tall windows with silk drapes, 600 thread count sheets, and long balcony. The nice bath room with Turkish towels and cozy, white bath robes was separated by a short hallway, making it feel more like a suite. Bob and Shannon are friendly, gracious innkeepers, well liked by the locals. They’ve won numerous B&B awards so they know how to do it right! We enjoyed Shannon’s delicious, full-course breakfasts as well as her Happy Hour hors d’oeuvres served on the veranda. We enjoyed meeting their interesting guests and, since Bob is very sociable with a great sense of humor, he made us feel at ease. We were pampered by daily room service and Shannon’s freshly-baked cookies. (Bob caught me more than once with my hand in the cookie jar.) We enjoyed walking to the downtown shops with facades expertly painted to reveal intricate 1870s brick and woodwork. We ate delicious meals at all the restaurants recommended by our hosts, enjoyed a 2-hour Amelia River cruise, a horse-drawn carriage ride, and daily trips to the beach just 1.5 miles away. The inn provided bikes so twice we had fun exploring the other beautiful old homes in the area. Before we left Shannon, was busy decorating the inn for the upcoming holidays, which inspired me to want to spend this Christmas with them and their guests. If we do, maybe you’ll join us!

My husband and I love to stay at B&Bs and boutique style hotels--this was one of our favorites. it was located right in the heart of the historic town of Fernandino so you could walk everywhere. the inn was lovely. Just small and quaint enough for an escape but with enough other guest that you would actually run into each other out and about town! it was fun to share our days adventures with the other guest at the evening happy hour or at breakfast. Which both you want to show up for because the food and hospitality were great!
I cant say enough good things about this hotel and the inn keepers Bob and Shannon and their daughter Leigh. We cant wait to go back!

We have stayed a lots of B&B's over the years and Addison on Amelia is one of the best! The breakfasts are always delicious and they have the best happy hour. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. Bob and Shannon take a real interest in their guests to make sure they have a great visit on Amelia Island. It's no wonder they have so many repeat guests. This is a Five Star place without the Five Star price.

Our stay at the Addison was perfect. Even though we are golfers , we decided to stay at a location in town instead of the big golf resorts. It was a good choice. The Addison is just around the corner from the main street with several great choices for restaurants and shops. The beach and Fort Clinch are just a bike ride away -- and we only had to drive 11 minutes to get to the golf course.

Breakfast at the Addison is wonderful - any gourmet would be happy with the menu and the amount of food - we are big eaters, but that breakfast kept us full until dinner time..And don't forget happy hour - each day at 5 pm we met with all the other travelers listening about their activities for the day as Bob and Shannon kept the wine, beer, soft drinks, and appetizers coming. A great place to stay - we will definitely be back...

Bob and Shannon are excellent hosts. Place was immaculate and the food was wonderful. They accomodated a restricted diet with no trouble at all! All in all, a great experience.

I have to admit that I felt a little trepidation in staying at a bed and breakfast. I'm normally a very introverted person who enjoys privacy. I was concerned that a bed and breakfast environment would be too uncomfortable. Boy was I wrong. This was a perfect experience. The Tidballs (innkeepers) are impeccable hosts. The facilities are spacious and gorgeous. The attention to detail was exceptional from the lavendar bath salts to the outstanding breakfast created just for us and based on my restricted diet. Oh and that bed...the sheets were amazing and a perfect place to wake up in while smelling that delectable breakfast cooking downstairs. Happy hour was an unexpected treat and a great way to share stories about places to go and restaurants to try. The location of the inn is one block away from all the action. It's just removed enough to get a quiet private experience but close enough to walk to lovely restaurants. Thanks to Bob and Shannon for a lovely vacation. I will certainly recommend this bed and breakfast to everyone who will listen to me!
