“Elegant surroundings, excellent service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2009

If you are looking for somewhere to make a special memory...look no further!
The hosts of this beautiful inn and of course the accroutamants are sure to please.
Both the "bed" and "breakfast" were outstanding! Be sure to make your dinner reservations there as they serve up a fine meal then as well!

My husband and I were thrilled with the Addison. We enjoyed the amazing sheets, comfortable rooms and overall atmosphere. We never missed a happy hour as we enjoyed the social interaction with the other guests and innkeepers. The innkeepers were great hosts making us feel right at home. Every morning the breakfasts were different and always delicious. We look forward to visiting again!

My husband and I recently stayed at the Addison for two nights on a "babymoon" getaway anticipating our third child. A beautiful old southern house set around a brick courtyard and fountain, the inn sits downtown, within walking distance to shops and the bay and biking distance to the beach. We borrowed the inn's beach cruisers for a trip to the beach one afternoon and took advantage of the great location for shopping and restaurants the whole time we were there. The rooms were lovely, clean and spacious, with great quality linens, a very comfy bed and a HUGE bathtub. We didn't expect to eat dinner at the inn, where the in-house chef is the owners' son-in-law, but wound up giving it a try - it was delicious! The best meal we had all weekend - and we ate at several of the highly recommended places. The ambiance is lovely for a casual or fancy meal - on the courtyard porch by candlelight on white linens (you can also eat indoors). Food in the morning was delicious as well. Probably the most filling meals we've had at at B&B. Our only complaint was that breakfast didn't start till 8:30, which is hours into my usual day. Being six months pregnant, I was starving by then. We would recommend the Addison to anyone looking to stay on Amelia Island without their kids.

The room was very nice -- we were told it was the staff's favorite and we could see why -- large, comfortably furnished and with a very large porch with rockers. Wood floors, comfy king bed. Although I will say the decor itself -- while neutral and pleasing -- had less personality than you often find at a B&B or inn. Bob, the innkeeper was pleasant, but seems to be a shy sort who is a bit awkward with guests (he was uneasy making small talk, which made us uncomfortable). Bathroom was fine. Breakfast was served, rather than buffet, so there were no choices, just the menu of the day. I thought it was delicious. My boyfriend thought it less so. Guess that's the problem with no choices. It wasn't as opulent a breakfast certainly as you sometimes get in a B&B. All in all, a nice stay but not remarkable.

We loved our stay at the Addison House.
My husband and I aren't your typical B&Ber's, we're stayed at a couple here and there. The staff at the Addison is fantastic. They're happy to be as friendly as you want them to be without going overboard.
Bob helped my husband arrange a guided horse-drawn carriage ride. It turned out to be the best part of our trip.
I also recommend borrowing the hotel bikes and riding to the beach.
The 600 thread count sheets were amazing.
If you want more privacy I recommend staying in one of the 2 back houses, not the main house. We stayed in room 7 and loved it.

I generally agree with the many positive comments expressed by other reviewers. Having stayed in dozens of inns over the last twenty years, this is truly one of the very best.
