“Perfect Long Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

Had a fantastic experience at the newly renovated Omni Resort on Amelia Island. The hotel and grounds are beautiful. The food in all of the restaurants was exceptional and the staff was ultra friendly. You will not be disappointed!

This hotel is an old resort that has been converted to an Omni. The grounds and amenities are wonderful, but the hotel is an older style hotel. Just a bathtub with old styled tile. $20.00 valet parking. $20.00 daily resort fee. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, but extremely far from the lobby and parking garage.

The $85 million renovation was incredible! I stayed at this resort when it was known as The Inn at Amelia Island Plantation. I cannot even recognize it as the same place once Omni took over the resort and did their comprehensive resnovation. Great resort for the price. Omni has hit a grand slam with this place.

Stayed at this property several times over the years on business but this was my first visit since the renovation. Significant improvement with room upgrades and general property improvements. Staff was overly solicitous from clearing gate security, being welcomed by valet to room service and checkout. Had off property food delivered with no problem. It's a bit pricey but my experience was well worth the room rate, staff excellent and support for our meetings was excellent. Asked for directions to meeting room and manager on duty actually walked me over to the elevator close to the meeting. Always room for improvement but the staff here wanted to be sure you were happy and looked to satisfy.

We stayed here on a TravelZoo special, which waived the $20 per day resort fee that is normally required. You get nothing but wifi, walking paths and the shuttle service for the extra fee. Plus, you have to pay $10 pp/per day for the use of beach chairs. We loved the ambiance, ocean view room, private balcony, wonderful beach, friendliness of housekeeping and front door staff, but the extra charges are ridiculous for a room that costs this much.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

While the hotel has a new pool and more hotel rooms, new design, but the resort did not take advantage of it's funds to make it first class. Repairs are in need in the current (old) wings of the hotel, and the noise is ridiculous if you want to relax and try to sleep. They completely walled in the old lobby to make a conference room. It was a beautiful southern room with a bar and fireplace. Gone !

1. The new pool is bland. No color. Tan umbrellas, tan walls, no color at all. The pool is NOT a true infinity pool. The end that faces the ocean is blocked by a wall. And there were plenty of kids in diapers in the pool. And way too many lounges. You can't get through them.
2. Rooms in the old part of the hotel: the sliding glass door would not lock when closed. The tub had significant rust. There was a piece of wood missing from the bathroom vanity, and there were old blood stains on one of my pillows. I have pictures. Also, when anyone walks by with luggage or a maid's cart passes, you can hear the noise VERY loudly. When someone closes their door, it shakes the room. I counted 25 slams one morning. Happens a.m. & p.m. Plus the music at the pool is turned on and up at 9:00 a.m. each morning. My hope was to relax. That didn't happen.
3. Noise: One morning, in the courtyard behind the hotel (hallways are open air) there were over a hundred golfers early a.m. with a speaker on a microphone that woke us up. Also a workman was drilling something on a room's balcony one morning.

Thank you for your review during your recent stay. I'm sorry to hear you were unsatisfied with your experience but we appreciate your feedback to improve upon. If you would please email your name at alacroix@omnihotels.com, I would like to look into the issues with your room. We replaced the old lobby with the new ocean view lobby and three outdoor fire features but understand some people miss the old ambiance of the Lobby Lounge. I will share your noise concerns with our operations staff for review. We appreciate you staying with us and hope you'll consider returning again in the future.

Beautiful hotel and grounds. Got in Thursday trouble getting into complex (take second Omni entrance) Played golf at Ocean course on Friday, enjoyed lunch at pool side bar, bonfire and smores, then close the evening at Falcon Nest. Saturday buffet brunch at Sunrise cafe, then pool and hot tub, finally the wedding at the marsh landings. Sunday late checkout so we hung at the pool.
