The most fun we had was flying down the canals of the mangroves, in the 10,000 islands area, just wide enough for our boat to fit through. A little tight fit but very thrilling. Capt Bobby explained that the tide was down so we had to rev up to get over some high spots. We did not see any Alligators as we were told the water is too salty right now for them. The monkeys (we call them raccoons in Kansas) came to the boat to drink fresh bottled water because they also don't like the satly waters this time of year. We did see a dolphin just as we took off swimming near the boat. Our 14, 12 and 4 year old had a great time. I think just riding on the airboat was a thrill for them. I had a hard time hearing Bobby speak through my headset but I think he had the mike a little far from his mouth. No one else seemed to have any issues. He switched headsets with me but I still couldn't hear well. I think it must have just been me. He was a super nice guy and was great with our kids as our 4 year old thought he was on the radio singing and talking into the mike. We stopped at one spot to get some great pictures of the whole family and anyone who wanted to sit in the drivers seat. We were also offered a sample of the mud at the bottom of the area and told people pay a lot of money for that stuff. No thanks! : ) We didn't mind not seeing gators as we had stopped before our ride off Turner Road just 15 min or so south of Everglades City. There was a boardwalk there that had some great Alligator pics and if you drive down Turner Road you will see gators laying on the side of the road and in the waterway. While we waited for the boat to return, because we arrived early, there were some picture opportunities for the kids. They could sit on an older airboat, sit on a real looking croc and take pics behind stand ups. I believe they had a drink machine there although we did not get anything. Take a jacket if at all chilly. It is shaded some of the time and when you get going can be cold. We took jackets and bags and put them under the seat baskets. Nothing got wet including us. The airboats were a blast and I highly recommend this company if you go. They are great with the wildlife and have a lot of information to share.
