5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013

Nice Motel, nice beautiful bathroom, nice location, everything very nice and clean, it also had a nice newly renovated bathroom. Sleep quality was good, nice and quiet. Fantastic colors and nice renovation.

Room Tip: Any are fine.

My wife and I stayed while visiting the Everglades. This is an older motel that was recently renovated so that everything was brand new. The room was extremely clean and the bed was comfortable. Convenient location on the main road in Everglades City with a cafe for breakfast next door.

The only item that prevented me from giving the Everglades City Motel a 5 rating was that the person working at the front desk was not at all friendly and acted as though they were doing us a favor when checking us in.

Looks like a regular motel but step inside and you will find a wonderfully updated room with all the amenities. Tile floors, comfy beds, fantastic colors and relaxing decor. The room has a big window on each side of the room so if the windows are open you can see straight through.
There is a nice restaurant right next door, great comfort food. We stayed in room #5 and loved it.

From the outside it looks like a 50's strip motel...on the inside it is finished with crown molding (even in the bathroom), beautiful black and white photos above the (comfortable) beds, an up to date (granite) shower and sink in the bath, a refrigerator and microwave, little dinette...just wonderful. We had two king size beds and only used one. When coming back to the room after breakfast the cleaning lady had striped both beds and even taken the shower curtain down to have it laundered. Very impressed!!! They offer 10% discount at the cafe next door and also at Captain Doug's Airboat rides. A Gem of a place!

Room Tip: We had two and they were excellent!

and Isa wrote to us: "Our hotel has been completely renovated, private bathrooms of granite marble countertops, granite marble tub surround, coffee maker, free wireless internet, microwave, fridge etc." IT IS TRUE!!! We received a warm welcome and an efficiency room (# 2 ) updated, clean and plenty of space. Our friends in # 1 had the same treatment. I definitely will back if in the area.
In the close island's cafe's they made a wrong addition. Check carefully !!

Everglades City Motel is a good motel with nice rooms (clean, updated bathroom, plenty of space) and helpful staff (they made excellent restaurant recommendations and helped us contact the kayak guides we had booked for the following day).
If you want to stay in Everglades city this is an excellent choice.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013

Our stay at the Everglades City Motel was marred by the worst welcome I have ever received. We were checked in without a single smile, please, thank you or ‘enjoy your stay’. The largest string of words we received was along the lines of ‘I need your card’ when it came to paying.

Except for the awful staffing, the motel itself was okay. The room was big and clean (with fridge, microwave and coffee maker) and the bathroom was surprisingly nice, but the room did have the least comfortable bed of our 3.5 week trip (fine if you like sleeping on a marshmallow) and the air-con was excessively loud, so we had to turn it off at night and when we wanted to watch TV. The walls were lacking sound insulation, as other reviews have mentioned (we could hear enough to be able to discern within seconds of their arrival that our neighbours were German), but fortunately our neighbours were quiet at night so we weren’t disturbed at all.

I was completely put off the place by being made to feel so unwelcome, but if we had been checked in by someone with a smile and who at least pretended to be happy to see paying customers, then I would probably have rated this as ‘Very Good’.

(Given how many other reviews refer to the friendly reception, I feel that I should confirm that we were most definitely at the Everglades City Motel and aren't confusing it with some other place! I can only assume that we caught a day with either relief staff, or with the usual staff having a very bad day - but whichever is the case, it doesn't excuse them.)
