“Grass Shack Restaurant Where the Fish can be Live!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

The Stump Pass Grill in Englewood, Florida, can be a little difficult to find. But, you can go up on the internet at www.stumppassgrille.com to get directions. It's a small, grass shack environment at the water's edge looking out over Lemon Bay, with a tiki bar and grill. What makes this little restaurant quite interesting is the fact that it is located at the Stump Pass Marina, a facility that includes a small bait and tackle shop. The boat slip adjacent to the shop is kept open so that people can buy a package of frozen shrimp, have the staff quickly thaw them in a bucket, and let you toss them one at a time to the large fish hiding beneath the surface just waiting for a shrimp to hit the water. Great fun watching big snook and redfish in particular rushing for the meal. For those of you from the north country, the snook will remind you of northern pike.... a lot of teeth, hit and run preditor. Great spot to relax and look out over the water....always a pleasure.

“Your average tiki bar food.”

Nice setting with the slight odor of sewerage. Good service. Ok food, no better. Had mahi mahi samwich. Key lime pie. Dry fish.

“Nice outside place to have a drink, nice view for intercoastal.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012 via mobile

Wait staff is good. Beer isn't cold enough for me. Have liqour but it is not normal. Made from wine or something. Atmosphere is cool. Not a bad place to take kids for lunch. Can walk around and look at things and all paper & plastic so they don't break anything. Food=decent to OK. Fries are big thick steak fries but are seasoned which helps. Grouper bites are good. Grouper sandwich is good but not enough fish for the size of the bun. Coleslaw is just plain bad. Chips are not good but salsa is and so is the ceviche. Kids menu is small but just right for small kids-grilled cheese, hot dog, chix fingers ( what else do they need or eat). Menu is not very diverse if looking for lots of seafood choices. Question the freshness of there seafood items. Parking just plain stinks. Small stalls. Don't bring a long box pickup, it will be hard to park in the close spots. I would go back more for the atmosphere and a few of the food choices
