“Wow. Just wow.”
My husband and I are still shaking our heads in wonder over how excellent this restaurant is. We were staying in Clearwater Beach for the holidays. It was way too cold to do anything beachy, so we took a day trip to Dunedin. First off, where the heck did Dunedin come from? We are both Floridians and my husband was raised in St Pete, but we didn't know anything about Dunedin. What a quaint little town, with lots of cool restaurants.
We had read about the Black Pearl here on TA so we made a reservation. So glad we did. Just a stellar experience. If I had to come up with a negative, it would be that the decor is dated. But who cares? The food and service was outstanding. I had the shrimp w/ garlic and red peppers over basil ravioli. Hubby had a version of veal marsala. 14 year old son, who regularly asks to eat at Ruths Chris, had the filet mignon. It's a cliche to say you could cut your filet with a fork, but we could cut the filet with a fork. The house salad with warm poppyseed dressing was a revelation in itself. Wine list was well thought out with original choices. Had a wonderful Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Finished with a bananas foster, again at my son's request.
This is a must visit if you are in the St Pete/Tampa/Clearwater area. We are making excuses to go back.
