Our trip to the Blue Moon Inn in Dunedin the week of March 2nd through March 7th, probably makes about the 3rd or 4th time that we have stayed here in the last 5 to 7 years. I found this property on a lark by doing some looking online after one of our original favorite hotels, the Clearwater Beach Hotel, became the Sand Pearl Resort, and subsequently went out of our price range completely.
This place is always accommodating to our needs every time I have stayed here. What do I love about it, let me count the ways...There are only 8 rooms in the entire inn which makes it quieter than a typical hotel because there are less people staying here to being with. Also, each room is huge compared to a typical hotel room, especially if you get the Deluxe Suite. The bathroom in that room is out of this world. I wish I could have it in my own home.
My husband and I booked too late in the year this time so we didn't get the Deluxe Suite but the Standard Suite instead. However, that's okay, because it's still very nice and it was our fault that we didn't book earlier. In the future, I won't make that mistake again.
The complimentary breakfast in the commons room in the middle of the Inn is beautiful in and ot itself with white walls, high ceilings and a very nautical motif. The breakfast fare includes fresh fruit, cold cereals, muffins and pastries, sausage and egg sandwiches, boiled eggs, a variety of spreads for toast, and plenty of juice, milk, coffee, etc. The best thing about the breakfast area though are the wonderful ladies in charge of it. They are gracious and welcoming.
Additionally, each room in this property has a front and back door with their own individual porches with Andirondack chairs and a ceiling fan overhead.
Ahhh, if I thought I could retire now and just come down here to live in one of these, I probably would. Anyway, the Blue Moon Inn is a "diamond in the rough" and not to be missed. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to step back in time and relive the days when you had a real room key, not a key card.
To the owners of the Blue Moon Inn, even my Dad is impressed with this place, and it takes a whole lot to impress him. Kudos to the owners and staff for a job well done in maintaining this wonderful gem.
