This was our first trip to Destin and it was great. This is a awesome place for a family vacation.

Baytowne Warf has free shows nightly

Pelican Resort was nice but the beach was crowded(condo close to everything)

FudPuuckers - dont fall for the hipe
(Save your money, we waited for over a hour to get our dinner and it was cold and not the best food for the expensive price)

The KIDS loved Big Kahuanas(get there early for a seat)

Great overall family vacation will go again as soon as possible

We have visited several other places along the gulf coast but there isno place like Destin, Florida. The water is amazingly clear and the beach sand looks like snow, it is so white. We stayed at the Sun Destin Beach Resort (Room 404) and could not have been more pleased. We usually rent a house but the condo was much better! We loved the beach, ate at the BackPorch and AJ's for dinner (loved them both-very kid friendly) and enjoy breakfast twice at the Donut Hole (LOVED IT). We will return again and again! Already planning a trip in October!

It a nice town. Plenty of restaurants and space. Mean tourist though. Nice workers everywhere.

We originally came to Destin for a friend's wedding but decided to make it into a vacation. We went deep sea fishing on American Spirit which is owned by the florida girls company. It was a 5 hour trip for $55 dollars. The two people who accompained me caught 17 fish (6 different kinds). it was great! someone on the boat caught a mackrel and later in the day and meiko shark. The boat ride was awesome and we saw many dolphins and a porpouise (sp?).. the deckhands were so nice and helpful. there was also a limited food selection available on the boat which was convienent. they allowed you to also bring a cooler if you preferred. we then took our catch to AJ's where it was fried and served with fries, coleslaw and hushpuppies for 6.99!! As for traveling in Destin, we used local transportation for getting to and from fort walton and destin. it is only a $1 if you have some flexibility with your schedule (comes to the stops every 20 min). Otherwise taxi cabs were VERY expensive but we did find a reasonable and friendly local taxi service called triple A taxi. we also used him for rides to/from the airport (VPS). Overall it was a great vacation!
