“Great stay in January”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

My husband and I chose this small B & B based on other tripadvisor ratings. We were not disappointed! The white sandy beach was deserted this time of year and I loved walking each day. Every single room at the hotel faces the beach, so we awoke to the sound of the surf. Wonderful breakfast and a big plus is the lunches that are prepared and left for pickup anytime in the afternoon. We enjoyed the lunches after our golf outings also, watched a movie one night from their collection and enjoyed a few nights of their happy hour with free wine, beer and mixed drinks. Would we return? Absolutely, and we will come in the winter!

Destin Beach has become a conglomeration of high rise hotels and condos but there is still one place to step back and relax away from the crowds. The Henderson Park Inn is situated next to the State Park sharing its name. The Inn is a lovely, romantic repose complete with spacious rooms with balconies.
We enjoyed the complementary wine and delicious grapes while sitting on our balcony enjoying a gorgeous sunset. Complementary breakfast includes delicious cooked to order omlets and waffles. Dinner was slightly pricey but the presentation was perfect and each course was absolutely delicious. Recommend smokey tomato soup with shrimp, Crab Cakes with undetectable filler, warm spinach salad, and banana merengue pie to die for. Personel very friendly and accomodating.

Stayed at the Henderson Park Inn the nights of Jan. 25th and 26th. Was NOT disappointed, the staff was wonderful, our room was lovely, and the view from the small balcony was breathtaking. The breakfast was great, and the box lunch was a very pleasant surprise. A wonderful place for a couple to get away to and relax and enjoy the beautiful white sandy beaches. Already planning ourt next time to go to Henderson Park Inn

Room Tip: stayed on the 3rd floor, room 307 only negative is there is not an elevator, so 3 flights of stairs...

My husband and I traveled to the Henderson Park Inn with a gift certificate we got as a wedding present, and we wanted to make our dollars stretch, so we booked for three nights at winter rates. After reviewing the website, we were so excited! What an exquisite looking place. Hotel and inn websites are notorious for overselling the product, but not this one. We got more than we expected in atmosphere, service, food, and especially location. What a view! We are already planning for this to be our winter retreat: very low tourist traffic and a lovely beach experience even in the cooler weather. Perfect!

Room Tip: Second floor rooms in the main building have a much bigger balcony than those on the third floor. Th...

The Inn was a very quaint place to stay, much better than a chain hotel. I will stay there again when I travel to Destin. The service was great. The free breakfast every morning was a pleasant surprise. The chef even remembered to ask my son how his birthday was the next day. Very personal service. The box lunches and free water and candy bars were a great touch to a wonderful stay. The rooms were large and the bed was comfortable. We were able to walk to many different areas. The beach was wonderful with nice beach chairs. I am fussy about where I stay when I travel and Henderson Park Inn will have repeat business from me!

Room Tip: Second floor, executive room was great!

We stayed over NYE weekend- had an Executive Suite on the second floor. We were on the balcony a lot- if you're "Balcony" people, make SURE not to get a room on the third floor of the Main building- the balconies are so much smaller and you cannot fit comfortably. We were so glad we were on the second floor. Natalie was very accommodating even before we got there- she actually called us to offer a better room situation (so we didnt have to move rooms)- this was a very nice touch. The happy hour on the patio is wonderful- I don't see how anyone could possibly complain- its an hour of free drinks, people! Ive seen reviews on here complaining about the length of the happy hour- but- um- its FREE- so drink your wine and say thank you! The restaurant is excellent- highly recommend dining there. It doesnt look like much during the day, but the women do get dressed up at night and it becomes very elegant/romantic- with amazing views! ROOM/getting to the Room: This is the only reason HPI gets 4 stars. No one helped us with our luggage! We (my boyfriend) had to lug it up the stairs- NOT a way to welcome your guests! And, the decor in the rooms is SO outdated- now, I knew this going in, so I was OK with that- but- theres a difference between outdated and poorly maintained. There were actually entire patches of paint missing from our room near the TV (Not a tv, but who goes there to watch TV?) . For a hotel at this price point, this is completely unacceptable. Heres the thing about HPI- there are practically zero "Nice" choices in the Destin area- Im not sure what has gone wrong down there, but seriously- there are no nice hotels! Out of all of them, HPI is the nicest- for this reason, if going to Destin again, I'd return.

Room Tip: Get an executive suite - but NOT on the third floor of the main building- and you'll be happy.

My husband and I visited Destin for the first time last summer at stayed at HPI. It was a wonderful experience. The room was spacious and well appointed, there was a bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived. Nice touch. The beach is beautiful soft, white sand, HPI sets up beach chairs & umbrellas daily for their guest. They provide a buffett breakfast w/ omelet station and a (very good) boxed lunch. They have a fridge stocked w water, soda, and candy bars available anytime and happy hour each day. It was such a wonderful experience we are thinking about going back again this year. HPI is adults only, which is what we were looking for. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is the price. During peak season it's pricey but with all the amenties they offer we expected it. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a relaxing vacation location in Destin.
