Originally built as a Holiday Inn, this time share resort has a very loyal clientele. I was there as a friend of an extended family member of a family that has been coming here for years and own weeks at this resort. I stayed in one of the original units, phase 1, on the first floor. Many nice updates, new carpet, furniture (the sofa mattress was still encased in its manufacturer's plastic), kitchen ware was in good shape. TV is old and tucked above the refrigerator. Didn't matter, never turned it on. Linens were in good shape and bed was comfortable. My friend slept on the sofa bed and said it was fine. With the sofa bed pulled out, there is very little floor space, but doable. There is a room divider between the bed end of the studio and the living end of the room, so there is some privacy for two adults or if you were a couple with one or two smaller children. Screened in porch with two chairs faced the gulf but there is no real gulf view. The dunes are too high. Pool is very nice as is the hot tub. Easy boardwalks (2) to the beach with rinse off stations at each walkway. Management arranges some activities by the phase 1 pool, hot dog lunch, ice cream social, hamburgers ($1-2), music and one day a complimentary breakfast served in the owners lounge. Since people own certain units for certain weeks, there were many people who knew each other because they have been coming here at the same time for many years. The beach is beautiful and clean. It was a bit rough while we were there, so spent more time by the pool than at the beach. Also, we did not want to rent beach chairs for what seemed pricey to us. Probably the going rate, but not worth it to us. It was free to just walk the beach, so that's what I did. One policy that is understandable but was a disappointment to me. The sliding patio door and door to the parking lot are to remained closed at all times to protect the interiors from the salt air. Disappointing to not be able to listen to the surf, especially in the evening and early morning. The AC worked great but if not too warm, I would like to turn it off and listen to the gulf. A great alternative to the highrises that look out of place to me. This is not a luxury hotel, but a great, low keyed, family resort.
