I've always heard fabulous things about Louisiana Lagniappe - and the only thing stopping me, from giving it a try, was the fact that, with 2 kids, I didn't want to waste so much money on food they didn't really want. So - with our kids being older, we decided to make a date night out of it (they got pizza hut and chinese, later) ;)
I like that there's an "exclusive" vibe about it - you need a special placard to get into the little community. A great, homey feel to the outside (where we sat) of the restaurant, too. Nice, without being overbearing or stuffy.
The hushpuppies, that come to every table, were fabulous - crispy and more cornbread texture than cake. Probably the best set of hushpuppies that we had in our 2 week trip.
I got a raspberry margarita, which was just strong - with no flavor, whatsoever.
Service was awesome - our server was attentive and informative and you could tell that she really enjoyed the food at Louisiana Lagniappe!
I got the Lobster Bisque - which was a newer item - thought it was really good. A couple of the lobster pieces were a little tough but had a great flavor, all around.
My entree was the Blackened Redfish - very good, also, Loved the sauce that came on top but again, some of the lobster pieces were chewy. The stuffed potato was awesome but could have done without the corn medley, on the side.
Other items ordered, were the Seafood Lagniappe, Lagniappe Seafood Platter and Grouper Crevettes. All very good.
I really enjoyed our meal but...if something is this pricey, I better leave saying "that was one of the best meals of my life"...and I just couldn't. Don't get me wrong, it was a GREAT meal, just not perfect. And, not something unique.
If we're going to have another date night, next year, I think we'll pick a new "higher" end restaurant.
