“Can't beat the view of Destin harbor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013 via mobile

Always a favorite dining experience in Destin. Magnificent views of the harbor with indoor and deck seating. Everyone in our party had sushi but one Grilled Cobia. Usually crowded with a long wait but we were seated immediately.

Since Harbor Docks isn't a formulated chain it isn't as consistent as any of the Mc-whatevers here in Destin. I've experienced excellence and passable here. What you CAN expect is sustainable honest fresh seafood from the Gulf. Want bovine feces fed tilapia? Go to a chain!

“Great food, but TERRIBLE service!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

Historically, this has been one of our favorite restaurants on the Gulf Coast, and we have eaten here many, many times. This past Friday we met another couple there, and sat outside on the deck hoping to enjoy some nice cocktails, sushi, and live music. We sat down at 7:30, with plenty of empty tables all around. At 7:45 we asked a server if she knew who our server was, and send him/her over. At 7:55 someone took our drink orders. The drinks were INCREDIBLY watered down to point they all tasted like bad ice water. We ordered sushi at 8:05 and it was delivered at 9:15. Very good, mind you, but not worth waiting for over an hour, and drinks so bad we all switched to beer (Corona Extra--no Corona Light for whatever reason). The band that started playing at 8 was incredibly loud and incredibly bad. We were very disappointed to say the least. Will have to unfriend you on FaceBook....

“"Still the Best!!"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

There isn't too much of old Destin left eating-wise but HD is still around and it's still the best. I've been going there since 1979 and never miss a chance to partake of their cuisine. Whether it's the fresh catch sandwich, sushi, or eggs and cheese grits. My plan always involves breakfast/lunch versus dinner as the prices, service, and parking are much better given there is less of a crowd. Dinnertime is always a challenge for any place and can overwhelm a restaurant and HD is no different but the fact that it's busy should tell ya something. And given that, I personally don't mind ever getting up and fetching my own pitcher of ice tea or tracking down my server to enhance my own service. It helps them out too and they do appreciate it because I've seen them running ragged trying to keep up with the demands. HD started back in 79 and it hasn't changed much despite the Destin explosion. So follow my recommendation and try them for lunch. You won't be disappointed.

“If you like high prices and small quantities of average food, this is your place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

Not sure why there are so many raves about this place. Apparently you go here for the sushi?? We went for the seafood. It was average- I had stuffed bacon wrapped shrimp. It came with standard tea-cup saucer sized house salad- they only have zesty Italian dressing. It was served over a bed of mixed greens with some blanched slivered almonds and canned mandarin orange sections on top. There were four medium sized shrimp that had crab flavored bread stuffing wrapped in a slice of bacon and a small serving of average mashed potatoes. House wine was $6.50 a glass. Fresh fish portions of other diners were just plain paltry. The service was excellent, which given the huge crowd, was unexpected. This made for a noisy dining experience, which doesn't bother me, but might bother others. And the view is nice- overlooking the harbor. But prepare for sticker shock after you eat your lunch-sized portions. I won't go back.
