“Caribbean Adventure; not for the delicate or faint of heart; amazing for those who aren't.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2012

Just returned from a March 10-16, 2012 spring break trip. Arrived the night before & stayed at the Harbour Club- not a luxury room, but beds were comfortable, clean sheets and a hot shower in the morning; super convenient to grocery store & restaurants; docking for Blackbeard's is right behind. Accommodations on the boat were clean and comfortable. Everything is very tight quarters, so don't over-pack & you'll be fine. Food was amazing & abundant; each day we ate 3 meals & 2 snacks plus fruit & snacks are always out if you need more. The crew made the trip---I was amazed at how hard they worked to give us an amazing trip but they still had fun and made it fun for us. It felt like having an adventure with family. Bring memory cards to get other passengers pictures. I left a clean, dry set of clothes in my bag that I left behind at the dock & was very grateful to have them when I took my post-docking shower. We did have some squalls run thru but since I brought foul weather gear, I was able to enjoy it topside. I dosed with meclizine prior & during most of the trip (just in case) but not everyone did. There was some seasickness, but it was short-lived for those who suffered---follow the crews' advice & it goes away. I can highly recommend Blackbeard's to those who up for a bit of adventure. If you need more luxury, I believe Aqua Cats can accommodate you better.

“Disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2011

Did my first and last liveaboard. The diving was not very good and we would even dive the same site twice. The crew acted as if we were a nuisance to them and didn't seem to respect each other. The cook was constantly complaining about the "cook in training", Courtney who was the best member on board. The food was excellent. There was too much of a soap opera going on between the captain and cook, too much romance which made the guests uneasy.

“Blackbeard's Live-a-Board- Highly Recommended”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2011

Sailed on Blackbeard's Morning Star with Captain Grayson, Red the 1st Mate, Allison the cook, Andrew and Emma the Dive Masters on this trip.

There were 17 of us from Rochester, New York. We were able to do 20 dives that week. We were diving between 3 to 5 dives a day in the 84 degree waters of the Exumas' in early October,

The accommodations were like camping out on a boat. The meals were good and there was always plenty of food. The diving was simply fantastic!

This was my second trip on Blackbeard's and I would go again. They mean it when they say "Twice the fun at half the price".

“Incredible Dive Trip - No Frills but plenty of thrills”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2011

We had an amazing time on the Blackbeard's Pirate's Lady. First of all, yes it's kind of like camping at sea (but with air conditioning). The food was great and the diving was amazing considering we went out of Nassau directly after Hurricane Irene. We did 21 dives in 5 days and had an incredible shark dive. The crew was great and worked hard to accommodate everyone.

There was a great mix of diving skill levels on board (from someone doing their open water check out dive, to dive masters. Overall it was a great trip boarding on amazing for the money since the price was less than $1,000 for the whole week.

“Lots of scuba diving, excellent food, accommodations - roughing it...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2011

Here's the nitty gritty... The boats don't raise the sails. Its easier and faster for them to use the engines. They may raise the sails but you'll get to the next dive site much later. Furthermore, they have to take down the shade canvas for the boat, and you're gonna want shade. The only storage of personal items was your scuba storage on deck and a small shelf inside your bunk. The bathrooms are VERY small. The 30 second freshwater shower rule is enforced to a point. These boats are NOT US Coast Guard approved vessels. I found a few fire extinguishers that needed to be charged so they can be used in an emergency. There are NO cushions on board for seating. They only cushion is in your bunk and sitting for many hours on deck was uncomfortable at times. There is no where to layout except the life raft at the front of the boat.

The food and cook were EXCELLENT!
The water was EXCELLENT!
The crew and captain were very helpful and friendly.
The dive sites were okay. Some were amazing, some where worth missing. The last two wrecks near Nassau can be missed for sure.
If you have a bunk in the main saloon, you'll have people always down there, morning, lunch and dinner and after... Not much privacy at all..... The double bunks are small for two people, but doable if you REALLY like the person. The forward bunks are the ones to get. BUT the A/C doesn't really reach the forward bunks.
You only get very limited time on any islands you may land on.
There is some cell phone service with AT&T
You get 1 cup for the entire week with your name on it.
Finally, you get what you pay for....
That's it...
Good luck
